power steering?

I have an na 87 base rx7 which I am swapping a t2 motor into. I am not sure but i do not think my car is equipped with power steering. I want to see what is involved in adding the power steering. If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it greatly.

hmmm

So did all fc3s come with power steering? I am not very familiar. I am still doing homework on the car, If anyone knows, was there an fc released without power steering, or was it a standard option?
thanks

You would knwo if you didnt have power steering

You would know if you didnt have power steering.... trust me.... your arms would be a lot thicker and your brain a lot smarter. Its about 10x more difficult to turn a steering wheel in a car without power steering, if you normally drive a normal car then you would know if you didnt have power steering. There is a lil pump above your air conditioning, but a good test might be to turn off the engine while you are rolling downhill slowly and see if steering gets harder or stays the same.....

I can not believe the driver of any car would wonder if they had power steering or not.....

btw, if you look at the stick you'll see that the 87s pretty much all had power steering.

O, by the way... sorry if that sounded rude, it was supposed to

thanks

Actually, i have a rolling chassis, the motor inside needs work to run. I have never driven it, hence my question on power steering. I would wonder why any retard would try to put someone down on the internet. I hope you feel better, so anyways, sar, since you seem to have your **** down, tell me, did all fc come with power steering? I cannot find the power steering inside my engine bay.

I grabbed the stock features from the sticky. As you can see a basic rx7 did not come with power steering. But, like I said the power steering pump should be on the driver's side above the air conditioning. You will notice that the pump has a lot of ground contact area (it makes it useful for checking spark imo).

So the power steering pump is to the front right of the engine from the front. You should see a cap that you can take off on top. You can see my pump right past the engine in this picture, notice the screw off cap and large metal surfaces above it.

You may also notice that my marine battery is pretty much touching the belt.

btw, sorry for jumping on you for not knowing I did not assume that your car was already not running. You have to admit that that would be a pretty stupid question if your car was running.

My car is not running also. Working on cleaning out intake manifolds and throttle body. Yipee, I got the secondary throttle plates to move on monday!

Just my opinion but your probably gonna like driving this car w/o power steering.

pretty much every RX-7 owner i know (N/A or Turbo) including myself has taken off the power steering.. you just get way better feedback, steering is alot crisper

only reaon i'd see onyone installing power steering into an RX-7 that is blessed not to have it is because unfortunaly (i and say this w/o insult) they are not physically fit to turn the steering wheel on their own

Just my $0.02

No Power Steering=Less Weight, Less Rotating Mass, More Control, Stronger Arms, and most importantly ALOT LESS TO WORRY ABOUT!!

I must admit I have had my power steering belt snap on me, and after a week of driving it w/o, I found it did feel more responsive at speed, a lot less slop. However, in a parking lot you are gonna build up your arms quite a bit. Slow manuvers become a real beeyatch.

It's all about the tradeoffs. I just replaced the belt, and now I have nice slender girly arms again.
