5.5L washer fluid tank.

i was refilling my washer fluid, and i had dumped most of a 4L jug in there and i was thinking "damn i must have a leak or something!!" so i checked and found nothing, so i poured more and more in, eventually using the entire bottle and a bit of the next bottle. looked in my manual and found out these things have an optional 5.5L washer tank.

those holes are from a CAR PHONE with a cord, there was one in my car before my grandfather gave it to me, the antenna at the back is for the phone.

My 86 had NO COMPARTMENTS!! Its weird, no back seat, it does have the rear fiberglass box, but were the lids would be is just blank flush covers under the carpet. YES its original. I'm selling the carpet (parting whole car) so if someones interested in a stealth stereo in stall this would be cool.

Base, Luxury, and some early Sports did not get the compartments in 86.

And if you want another weird anti-option, you couldn't get automatic tranny 'verts in 88.

It was a Sport, I have'nt seen any other Rx-7's without the compartments yet, but I knew it was a anti-option (as in the bins would have been the "option") in 86.

hmmmm... whats the VIN?

perhaps it was just no auto-s in CA, but everything I have for lit says that none were made until the 89 model year.

But the 88 model year was a very long production (7/87 through 12/88)

DIRECTIONAL TURBINE WHEELS!!
Thats right.... we all know the TII style turbine wheels... But I LOVE the fact that Mazda used 2 different directions, so the right side of the car would match the left side!!
Not like Ford Probes, where the wheels on one side rotates backwards than the ones on the other side.

My factory tape player in the GXL had an electronic spectrum analyzer, complete with pre-set EQ settings! Funny on a tape player, and not the CD player!!!

Hmm, what else...
Factory forged alloy spare on some TII's are pretty cool...
As for weird options? Completely useless back seat, and oh, that whole wankel thing is pretty strange!!!

the key hole light on my vert's door is preaty cool. I'm not sure how many models came with this feature but it sure makes finding the hole alot easier in the dark (wish my lady had one, hehe).

No tilt on airbag steering wheels in some cars?

Was there an option to get a different colored top for the vert? Maybe a tan color?

My vert came with a four bolt spare. But it looks identical to the original mazda one. Maybe it was from a base.

I can get back to you on that.
I still have the car, in storage, at a warehouse in FL.
I have a FL trip planned for September.

When the car was unloaded, the dealer didn't want it.
He was afraid he couldn't move it because of the stock market crash, and mini recession going on.
At that time there was no (known) reason not to get a auto.
I got the car for dealer cost. If memory serves me (I am getting older) it had a sticker of about $23K and I got the car for about $20K

my 86 base had the phone dial alloys, cruise control, and am/fm/cassette as its only options. no bins, no ac, no sunroof. actually if you want wierd options they were going to offer the t2 in 2 levels, the loaded one that we got, and one without power windows, ps , the big radio, sunroof etc. thats why power steering is an option on an otherwise loaded car. they also were about to call it the gt, and in fact some must hve slipped out the door that way because the parts are available.

Man, I want that surf board rack! Where can I get one? I don't even skateboard...

Oh yeah. The tall arm rest

There was a post here a while back that had all kinds of scans from the Mazda brochures. I was reading it on my girlfriend's dialup. I am home now on my DSL and can't find the picture post. Anyone have the link for what I'm talking about? I don't even remember what to search for

I was looking through a brochure for options, they had a ski rack attachment that went up the rear hatch glass, a rack made for roof mounting windsurfing boards, TONS of specially designed rack systems...

I got a few options

The strangest option I've seen so far is factory rear seats in a 10thAE.

One of the guys here has an 87 TII with the scooped steel hood.
