Possible to change to an airmass sensor?

I have the Apexi SAFC. Is it possible to change from the flap sensor that came on my 88T2 or change to an airmass sensor from another vehicle? (A vehicle that is included in the setup operation of the SAFC? Has anyone else done this???

I know there is conversion kits from some companies but I thought it would be easier and cleaner to do it this way.

Not possible. As far as I know, there are no kits. The S-AFC really has nothing to do with it.

There have been some people who have switched to the '89 style hot wire type air flow meter, but I don't know the specifics....Presumably, all you need to do is rewire.

The 89+ is NOT a hot wire sensor. It's a variation of the flapper door with a cone-shaped part in the middle. The Mustang unit is a hot-wire sensor, and HAS been successfully used on a GSL-SE, but I dunno about others.

How? The signals are completely different. The software required to interpret the signals is completely different. The flap meters have to have a separate air temp sensor so the ECU can use volume flow and temp to calculate mass flow. There’s no way you could just wire it up and go.

Yes, the easier and cleaner way to do it is to sell your S-AFC and buy an aftermarket EMS. That way you can replace your restrictive AFM with a straight pipe.

Here is a recent thread on de-looming an FC for an aftermarket EMS. I am quite sure that HWO will be happy to give you a million reasons why the car looks and functions better with the Haltech E6K.
