That means he took off all of the split loom tubing in the engine bay. I like split loom, but it has to be black. It keeps things neat and clean; and also helps protect the wires a lil.

What's up with those black splotches around the bumper. They look like finger prints.

No, he means hiding the wiring looms altogether. Ususally this means under the guards. Delooming must be just NZ/Aussie slang! You can see most of the factory wiring is hidden in this photo.

Holy crap that's the greenest green that ever did green!

Interesting IC... if you're going to all the trouble of 100% stripping the engine bay, why keep the stock mounting of the IC, even with an upgraded one it's till too hot up there...

Those are some huge flares you got there, what size tires are you going to fill them up with? Also is that an aftermarket wing I spot?

the spoiler appears to be a "kaminari" spoiler for coupe. i recognize it because i have purchased the whole kit 3 times. 1 for my 87TII then 2 times for my convertible...but the spoiler only fits coupe so i sold those off. great spoiler though!

VaughnC - thanks very F@#KING much mate, the server i use doesn't allow direct linking, so any pics which get direct linked get DELETED, now i have to go thru and upload all the big pics again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

top mounted intercooler is only there to make the car mobile at the moment, no point in having a FMIC behind the bumper when its getting painted now is there.

the flares are Group C flares designed for the 1st gen rx7's, most of the well supported 1st gen race cars back in the haydays of the rx7 used them. they cost me $120NZ each - $52US

that spoiler is aftermarket yes, its made by someone in NZ, not sure who, its a POS if you ask me, it has no rake angle at all, i am currently looking at something along the lines of a STi WRX spoiler to bolt straight onto of the existing one to get some downforce

the only factory wiring in the engine bay is the wires going to the wiper motor and they have been repositioned, the loom which used to go around the the front of the car has been changed to run along inside the firewall, i lengthed the wires to the headlights, park lights and indicators etc so they would still reach

the SPOTS which you reckon look like finger or hand prints i think you are looking at the holes where the indicator lights will be sitting, do you mean along next to the park light and along in front of the front guard flares? round marks?

cheers
Shane

Nice job HWO, you shouldve at least kept the taillights you probly just gutted em, seeing how its a pretty little green race car.
How did you go about "de-looming" the engine bay, just take off the fenders and bust out the solder gun? Or was there more to it than that.

The tailights? they were painted red, so i masked the lenses and had them painted green.

i had all the panels off the car, pulled the entire wiring loom, removed the wires which weren't used - approx 70% of them that is. and then re routed the wires, the wires for the lights on the drivers side corner needed to be extended around 50cm while the ones on the passengers side front corner were extended around 1metre. the wires come thru in behind the guards and run along the lip where the seems join underneath the guards

the car is still totally road legal......

will take more pics once i get the bonnet finished, painted and put on, and paint the still being put in rollcage and put the dash, seats and belts back in.

planning on painting the rest of the interior later in the year
