Porting 6p

Mazdatrix says that very little porting can be done to front and rear side housings. This implies that the intermediate housing has the most potential for porting. If I were to bridge port, which side housings would I port, and does anyone know where I can get a Bp 6port template or should I make my own?
Thanks,
Sam

Well, you can do porting...I have done many of them so far. ITs just that it takes away quite a bit from the car's street driveability, like around town and such. TO me, its noticeable, but not a bother at all since hte power gain is well worth it. IF you wat to port your 6pi housings, go for it. IT is a lot better if you can keep your 6pi actuators operational though, that helps with the power loss a lot. Given that its a ported motor, and yuoull be runing a modified exhaust, youll need to come up with an electronic method of operating them.

BTW< yuou cant por ttoo much on the intermediate housing ports...there isnt much room behind there before you hit the egr passage, so be careful.

I think there is quite alot to gain on porting a 6port,but the most important thing to do,is to remove the sleaves in the ex. port and replace them with turbo2 ones. Then you are able to port the ex. port.
The primary ports can be ported as much as the turbo2 primary ports.

I have a 91 so free exhaust is not a problem in reference to the actuators. You recommend me to port the front and rear sidehousings rather than the intermediate? So if I were to bridgeport, I would bridge the front and rear sidehousings and big streetport the intermediate correct?

Either choose streetport or BP, not both. If you choose BP, you will lose streetability.

I say go SP. I just did a 90 SP motor and it sounds awesome. Just getting out of break-in so I don't know much for performance gains.

Hey, hypntyz7, have you done a BP on a 6P motor before?

It's called a partial bridge.

How can you have a partial bridge? If its partial, you can't get to the other side .

Just kidding (I realize internet sarcasm is hard to pick up). I've never heard of a partial, but sounds like fun anyway. Woohoo! Until my next rebuild!

Honestly I'll try a 4port engine with the NA rotors, it should let you port more area than the 6 port.
