plume of smoke - 4k rpm+

whenever i cold start my 87 n/a, i get a plume of white smoke when i rev past 3500 rpm. the car had a recent tune up. can it be that the engine's not tuned properly or are all rx-7's like this when they start cold?

First things first, why are you revving your engine to 4K when its cold?

well i let it warm up for a minute but occasionally i feel the need to rev it past 3k. is one minute too short? i used to warm up my crx for 5 minutes but i figured its a waste of gas.

you don't need to warm it up to leave, but make sure the temp guage moves before going above 2500 rpm.
