Please No!! Not Blown!!!

Okay.....so I am driving home tonight from work. Stupid Maxima, WONT LEAVE ME ALONE!!! I punch it in 2nd, just as I am shifting I hear redline buzzer. I say "aight needed to free up some carbon anyway". It's all smooth, maxima is just a blur in the rearview, stop at a stop light, go as normal, get to cruising speed (60) put it in 5th and "BOOOOOOONG", exhaust rips a deep tone, I hear a backfire, the car is really sluggish, give it gas, nothing much happens, goes really slow. I put it in neutralit stutters and dies. limp to a gas station riht down the road. It won't start unless I'm pushing the accel to the floor. Call my mom she comes to follow me home. The whole way home it does't want to run over 4k, but it will if I floor it and the turbo spools. During all this I am throwing BLUE flames and my mufflers are redhot on the inside. Get home and sitdown and say. "Damn wish I hadn't taken that airpump off with the cat still on." I am praying this is the problem!!! BTW car smokes alot (blows rings, lol.) AP has been off for almost 3 weeks. I was getting the midpipe intalled on Fri. Anyway what could it be??? Blown motor, or clogged cat is my guess. BTW the cat did rattle when I revved so I knew it was gonna go soon. Plz help me guys.

Compression check. Really easy. It is either you best friend or really bad news. Either way, it will tell you right away whether to be looking at fixing something else on you car, or be to be looking for a new engine.

When my engine blew, I lost the rear rotor and it **** two apex seals on me. I have a pic of them somewhere, real nice looking, if you like seeing wasted rotors. Anyway, when my blew, I could get it to start, but it would only idle a 1.6k+ I tried to drive it around and It was kinda funny. I could mash the pedel to the floor and I could walk faster than it accelerated, but it could still go fast but just took along time to get there, and by the time it was fasted enough, it was already overheating. I comp checked mine and had 95 on all three faces of the front rotor and one could guess 0 across the board on the back. Anyway I really hope that your engine is not blown and it is something easy to fix.

maybe you shouldn't have turbo'd a GTUs
Yeah, compression check is the only way to tell for sure.
Does sound like a blown engine though. If the cat blew and the backpressure was stalling the engine, I can't see the turbo spooling.

Okay, I will do this tomorrow. I am going to call in work tomorrow and figure this out. I will try and get a compression test tomorrow. Will anything bad happend if I take off the cat pipe and start it up running with just the down pipe back? BTW, I didn't turb the engine, the previous owner did. A clogged at will still allow for boosting just etremely slow. ****, if it's blown I am so screwed, I owe 4500 on the damn thing. However I do have 500 saved up and if I cancel the insurance and don't have gas to buy I could save up money pretty quick.

Really Really sounds blown to me, sorry man.

BUT check the compression anyways
and yeah, removing the exhaust (leave the precat/DP on, don't want cold air touching a hot turbo) will NOT hurt anything, I drove around like that for a day.. hehehe, it was fun

Just taking off the cat could explain a lot. You could have fully melted the cat causing the engine to run like utter ****.

JSPEC's are the king.

And the forum kiddies all wonder why we have such a problem with people chasing after them. So this one made it, what 2-3 weeks?

Hmmm let's see here it lasted I do believe 5 YEARS. Don't reply here unless you have something better to say. A little consideration,I might have to shell out 3500, @sshole.

5 yrs. is a nice run if it was a used motor u just swapped in...I'm sure he meant no malice, just pointed out that a LOT of people on the forum by those complete Jspecs cheap, slap it in and are dissappointed when it blows real soon and they decide THEN to shell out for a good rebuild etc... those used motors are the luck of the draw, but again you can't argue w/ 5 yrs. on a used motor if it was driven often and hard (as I'm sure it was).

Actually wasn't driven too. Update, Couldn't do any testing today had to work and it rained hard today. Maybe tomorrow I'll get the comp check. But today I started it. Idled fine, no flames but a lot of white smoke No power either, sluggish revving. I too am thinking it is blown, only a comp will check that though. I am hoping for the best. Kinda hope it is blown so I can start from "skratch"

Well if it is blown.........Its time for me to work 7 days a week, what is the price(on average) for a rebuild w/ mild street port, 3mm apex? Or should I just go with a 20B(kinda a joke!) BTW i still owe 4500 on the damn thing. Got 800 saved up right now and my birthday is May 17(anyone want to get me a present????!!) All in all, I still love my 7.

cost over 1200 bucks from mazdatirx....

See a kit will not work for me for several reasons.
1. I have no experience doing this, so If I screw it up(90 %) chance.....then I will have nothing.
2. No work space, I do not have a garage....the basement could work but where will I set the engine, and the stand??
3. Money, I have none very little and now that I have no car I have to find rides to work....meaning I will have to work less days......less $.
I could go on, but whats the point.
How much will it cost to get my engine rebuilt? How much do already rebuilt engines cost? If I do the latter can I sell my core and part out the extra ish? I need a $ estimate so I know how hard I will have to work and how desparate I will be.

LOL!

That reminds me of those idiot honda kids who built their engine in the basement and couldn't get it back out when they were done.

Der?? It was so much easier to bring down into the basement in pieces??
