please help awnser this question!!!!!!
does anyone know if i can some how run high impedence injectors in a pre 87 rx7 that used low impedence injectors. i heard that some where by the air filter is a resistor that you bypass or something. i just want to make sure before i start getting involved. if someone can give me some info and directions on how to do this that would be great

I wish I was driving!
If you were wanting to say, run, 91 version injectors in an 87 (before half), just solder in a resistor into each harness to get the right impedance. Bling bling.

I did this mod once a long time ago (3 years maybe?) and I used a pair of 6watt, 6ohm resistors on the power leads of the two secondary injectors on the harness. Pretty easy.

That is for putting low impedence injectors on a car that requires high impedence.
He is talking about removing the stock resistor(if there is one), so the car can use high impedence injectors when it came with low impedence injectors. Sorry, but I cant help you with it.

ya you can bypass the stock resistors some how. I think there was a post a couple weeks back. try using the search. keep in mind the plugs will be different too so you need to buy some 91 injecoter plugs and solder them onto your harness.

using high ohm injectors
I specialize in engine managment and performance tuning. The low
impedance rx-7 turbo cars had a resister block under the air box
(silver). You will need to bypass that and give the injectors ther own
power source (B+). With power off measure the resistance of your
circuit now, B+ side of injector (black & yellow wire) trough injector and
wire to computer (LG-BK,LG-W,LG-R,LG) and match the resistance w/
resisters,if any.

Find the resistor pack located under the air fuel meter/air filter. Its on the structure of the wheel well. Silver in color. One large round connector on it. Disconnect the plug. Turn the key on and with a meter locate the 12v source of power. Now all you should have to do is splice that wire to the four injector wires in that same plug. Walla. Done. Just don't start the car with your old 2ohm injectors like this or BYE, BYE ECU. Should be able now to install the high impedence injectors. If you cannot find that resistor pack, then chances are you already have high impedence injector. Check with a meter. NOTE: the power wire should be a BY(black and yellow), the FP(front primary) is a BROWN wire, the front secondary is BROWN WITH A WHITE STRIPE, the rear primary is BROWN WITH A RED STRIPE, and the rear secondary is BROWN WITH A YELLOW STRIPE. Splice the black and yellow to each of the other wires and remove the resistor pack altogether. Piece of cake. And the *tabs* may be offset on the high impedence injectors. Just file or sand it down so the plug will fit. Will NOT harm a thing. Takes but a moment.
