failsafe is a mode the computer or a sensor goes into if its not functioning properly. like say your thermosensor is not working or hooked up. (i am making up the water temperature degrees they are not acurate) instead of the computer reading that the car is gradualy heating up or normal op temp, since it isnt hooked up or malfuntoining the computer just "pretends" that it is a constant lets saaaay 130 degrees... get what im saying? maybe?

There's no LImp Mode or such on a series four.


EDIT: I deleted an answer I just posted. I've decided removing the flywheel couldn't cause the front torrington bearings to fall down and cause the problem. So forget about the flywheel being off causing the problem. I was mistaken. Sorry 'bout that.
