place temp sensor in upper rad hose..

what would be a good material to use to make a solid section of upper rad hose for the sensor to be drilled into?? i was thinking some pvc or possible aluminum tubing but i would prefer to stick to the pvc. im not positive but i think it could handle the heat

Placing your temperature in the upper radiator hose won't read the correct temperature until your thermostat finally opens.

PVC won't handle the heat, but ABS will.

Your cooling system will not work properly if you don't have a thermostat. I suggest you install a new mazda unit.

Reinstall the thermostat. It will dramatically improve fuel efficiency, power, drivability and engine life. You may also be running straight water in your cooling system (based on past experience, many "no thermostat" people seem to do this) which will cause major corrosion and shorten the life of your water pump.

Now, check the FAQ for links to several threads on the various locations where temperature sensors can be installed. The upper rad hose is about the worst possible.
