Are these pretty much universal? Can they be picked up at like autozone or napa?

What's a Pintle?

http://dictionary.msn.com/ewedmedia/...0/A4032900.wav

pin·tle [pínt'l ] (plural pin·tles) noun
pivoting pin or bolt: a pin or bolt, especially one used as a vertical pivot or hinge, for example, on a rudder

[Old English pintle "peg, *****," of prehistoric Germanic origin]

Pintle cap is on the end of the fuel injector. It's a piece of plastic that WILL break if you drop the fuel injector. (don't ask how I know ) I do know that RC Engineering replaces the pintle cap when you have them clean / balance you injectors. You may want to try calling them to see if they will just sell you the pintle cap. (www.rceng.com) Also I believe that Mazdatrix sells pintle caps as well. You can try NAPA / Autozone... but I'm not sure if they would have it.

the pintle thing

mzdatrix sells them...they sell one universal part, and i bought it. unfortunately, what i got does NOT look like the original stuff, AND i could not get it to sit flush (opening diameter seems to be smaller than the diameter of the injector head)...may be you need some special tool to press it down...oh well....

let them sit in hot water to allow them to expand a bit, get out the vice and two pieces of wood, put one piece of wood on either jaw of the vice, align pintle cap with injector and slowly wind the vice in, when the pintle cap is approx 66% of the way on, take a 10mm socket and put it between the pintle cap and the piece of wood, this means you can wind it up tight pushing the pintle cap rignt into place and you wont crush the thingy on the end of ya injector

Ok......I called both of the mazda dealerships in my area today. Neither of them had any idea what the pintle cap is... I find that sum what amusing. I also called napa, autozone, and 2 mechanics in my area who also have never heard of that piece but kinda know what im talking about. Is there another name for the "pintle" that i dont know? Besides that fact that i cant find one close by, it does look simple enough to recreate out of some sort of plastic cap.. Dont know if it will work or not. In a way it doesnt seem like its really needed considering there is somewhat of a filter in the bottem of the injector hole that redirects that spray. Maybe I'll just pick up the one from mazdatrix.

Weird, I ordered Pintle caps from Mazdatrix over a year ago, but the opening was way larger than on my stock 460cc injectors, so I never replaced the old ones.

STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!

Whew....

Okay, NAPA has them!

the injectors are the same as for some toyotas and other imports.

Have them cleaned at Napa ($20 ea.) and they give you all new rubber seals too!

Make sure that your injectors have all the seals on them when you take them in so that they can match them up.

You get clean injectors, new pintle caps and all new rubber orings and seals.

(or you can order just the pintle caps and rubber parts for 3 times the cleaning cost above)

-your call....
