pin/connectors

Redoing some wiring, and rather than cut/splice, I'd like to replace the pins in the connectors.

Are these just the regular Molex type pins?

I know the pin sizes are gauge dependent, but does a connector have to be? For example, a four pin connector with a set of 12 gauge and a set of 18 gauge wires.

Thanks for any input,
John

I wouldn't imagine so, unless the RX7 is different. I just got done redoing a full set of connectors on an audi and some of the amplifier connectors had super skinny wires going into them, and then maybe 2 thick wires for power and ground.

What are "these"? It doesn't look like you've attached a picture, or reference what connector you're referring to.

The FC uses a lot of "common" pins/parts by KIT, TE, Sumitomo, all the normal Japanese suppliers from the 80s and 90s. If your question is more specific, someone might be able to help you.

I think at a high level you are asking are pins specific to their connectors? The answer is yes, absolutely. Pins are designed for an associated gauge, and the connector is designed to accept that pin. Modern connectors you will see hybrid connector that are designed for both power and signal, with only certain pin locations being able to accept larger/different pins. What you'll find on the FC typically can accommodate the "larger" pins that are normally associated with higher power currents.

You won't find any Molex pins on this car, unless you're simply using that as a catch all term, like the "Kleenex" of connectors.

Sorry, no picture, am at work. But was thinking in terms of the fuel tank connectors to start with. The ones that care battery and ground to pump, but also have the fuel level and gas light trigger.

You are just looking for a 250 series pin.

For example, TE 170341-3 will be a 0.250" male pin which can accommodate 12-14awg.
