Continuing from Gottadrive's post, we've may have found a source for decently priced seat covers finally.

I'll give them a call today and get some additional details such as.
- do they fit all style leather seats (GXL, Convertible, TII)
- quality
- warentee
- true leather
- group buy
- additional pictures & details

I am very interested!!!! Do they come in all black with no logos or markings? How exactly do they attach to the seat? By zipper? Do we need to sew anything? On a vert model are there holes in the headrest part for the speakers? I may even buy two sets just in case, ya know!

I talked to the guy today and:

-- they are direct replacements that use the OEM "hog ring" attachment setup
-- they are custom made
-- they have most of the popular colors
-- he has the different leather seat patterns (86 GXL, convertible, 88TII, 89 TII)
-- he can offer 2 tone panels (blue on black)
-- leather does have texture to keep you from sliding

Send me any questions you have and I'll try to get an answer from him

Here's a better picture of the 3rd gens:

BadBoy,

Does it really matter if they're perforated?

I know a guy who bought a 3rd gen from them. Basically they told him it was not wrecked. Turns out it WAS wrecked and the vin number was changed (ie. cut out and another one welded in)....

Red face OSA

A lot of RX-7 guys down here in South Florida also warn about OSA Auto. I don't have any detailed stories but I bet if you post in the 3rd gen section you might hear more than a few stories. I personally won't send any money to them. Use your discretion...

They take credit cards, so if it sucks I'll cancel payment.

vaughnc, you seem like a good guy.
I have personally been to OSA and can vouch for saying they are very close to "theives".

please do a search on OSA, because I know it has been discussed many times before.
there should be posts in the lounge, 3rd gen, 2nd gen, and SE forums.

if you go through it, get ready.

I'm really wanting these too ... you gonna order them vaughnc? I'm wanting black leather on the top and bolsters, and charcoal suede down the middle. Since I don't use my headrest speakers anymore, I'd get some turbo seats to put them on for my Vert.

YES it does matter if the seat covers can come perforated. actually the headrest speakers for a Convertible RX-7 need the perforations for the sound to come out of the headrest speakers! hehe i thought i made that part clear when i posted that i am speaking for vert owners with headrest speakers...oh well thanks for helping me clarify my reasons for perforations in the leather seat covers. :P

These seat covers are exactly what we've been waiting for. Why couldn't someone like Mazdatrix or Racing Beat offer them? Ever since the Demonspeed troubles I have been feeling kinda scared to do business with some of these new names in the game. I really want these covers but I am not willing to take the risk. The best part about this forum is the speed at which info travels. It won't be long before these second rate car shops either go out of business or get their act together. Before the internet, these places could go on ripping people off for years and years.

Here's the deal on OSA.

They will buy crashed, burnt, floodded cars etc....They buy mainly Rx7s and 300z's. They then fix them up or if the car is really hit bad they will salvage the parts to fix other cars.

Any buyer that goes there will see a yard with fixed rx7s and behind a fence they will have the cars they are fixing.

About 6 years ago, I was in the market for a 3rd gen. I was young and didnt have a lot of money to spend. I looked at cars all over South Florida. I checked out OSA. They had a Red R1, mint paint, strut tower brace and all. The car had an engine fire but they repaired it. It was a salvage title. I bought that car for half the price they were currently selling for. I never had a problem with that car. I drove that car for over 100K miles and sold the car a couple of years ago and bought the silver one I own now from an original owner.

If you are looking for a 3rd gen or any rx7 and cant afford to spend the asking 20K for the "original owner" specials, look them up. These cars are mostly cars with salvage titles and a vin check will tell you the history of the cars.

About 6 years ago I paid 11,000 for a Red R1. Back then these cars were going for over $18,000. Was I happy? hell yeah. I got to learn all the quirks etc and then bought the one I really wanted when I could afford it. I bought the car cash. I could have financed an 18K one but I rathered pay cash for the 11K R1.

Anyway, I don't know why people call them thieves etc...but if you see a car thats 1/3 the normal selling price everywhere else, you now know why.

I'm echoing AnthonyNYC comments.

I've not heard anything concrete yet, just hearsay. A search didn't provide anything either.

Can someone provide a concrete example of poor quality, people getting ripped off, etc..?

Just because they sell salvage/repaired/rebuilt rx-7s, I'm not faulting them. We've got one of those places in Atlanta as well (atlanta fine cars).

I just e-mailed the Miami Rx-7 Club, so we'll see if they can provide some additional details.

Good work vaughnc! Thanks for going through all this trouble. I agree that we have not heard any real evidence that this place is not trustworthy; but we have also not heard much positive feedback on the place either. I am deffinitely interested in these seat covers and hope you can find out wheather or not this deal is gonna fly.
