I'm looking for a good turbo upgrade for my '91. I am running a Haltech but I don't have any porting. I do have a huge, overkill front-mount greddy intercooler.
I was looking at one of the kits (the cheapest one from HKS is $2,000 see it at http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?0=220&1=314&3=475). I was wondering is a kit the best way to go or should I make my own setup.
The hitman said that the turbo I should be running is:
"If you really want some more power from your 13B engine , then the best way of doing it is to install a larger turbo. A good sized T04 turbo will add incredible amounts of power , and added reliability through reduced heat load. Look for a T04 with a P-Trim exhaust and 1.0 or 1.15 A/R , and a 60-1 compressor in an A/R 0.70 cover. Running the same amount of boost you should expect around 30% gains in power !" this is found at http://www.hitman.hm/13BHints.htm.
Any feedback is much appreciated. Also where I could buy whatever your recommendation as well as manifolds etc. If a kit is the best way to go, what is the best one to get and where is the cheapest place to get it.

I am sure you will see an increase over the stock turbo but it won't be an increase like you would see with a full 60-1. The best Hybrid I have ever felt on a TII was a -24 TO4B wheel in a stock housing with a stock clipped exahust wheel, it seem to be a very matched pair. Dale Clark ran this turbo for a bit a few years ago and the car was pretty damn fast for a stock appearing turbo.
