C's Short Shifter or Mazdatrix?
I have a 91 FC and I am getting a few things done to it at the moment if some of you guys dont know... I have been wanting to get the Mazdatrix short shifter but then also saw the C's also. So I was wondering about what you guys think about it. I heard great things about the Mazdatrix. If anyone has drivien with the C's and Mazdatrix please tell me which one is best.
Thanks
Nick

Like Mazdatrix says on their site, changing to a short throw shifter comes with the chance of noise and vibration, no matter what brand you use. If you want one no matter what, I'd trust either brand and go for price.

I have "the one in three" shifter rattle.
If I unscrew/loosen the shift **** (original) it chances the frequency of the lever moment and the rattle/vibration goes away. There must be a fix for this, besides a rubber band to the lighter….
Rattle is annoying!
But the difference between my verts is something!
89 original shifts like butter but loose as a goose and the 91 short shifter is notchy but short, stiff and fast.
Both trans have Redline MTL. Made world of difference in the 89 not so much in the 91.
Any way to tell who made the short shifter (previous owner install)?

Yeah C's is the original, a lot of people prefer their shifters over the others. There is no abreviation in what could be one of the shortest company name's of all time.

A short shifter shortens the throw by giving you a shorter shifter (the stick part that you hold). This of course gives you less leverage but faster shifts (more muscle is needed). I have the Mazdatrix shifter. I like it. It was at first slightly too short for me as quite a bit of force was needed to move it. This problem was solved by fitting it with a MOMO shift ****. The MOMO sat slightly higher then the stok **** and gave me more leverage but kepth the short shift.
In my opinion, the Mazdatrix is a better buy.

It changes the pivot point of the shift lever, making the actuall throw shorter. SOme folks make "short" shifters where the pivot point dosen't actually change, but they just cut the shifter so it is shorter. Doing this actually makes shifting harder as more force is needed to move the less efficient shifter. A true short throw shifter will be just as easy to throw, but the actual distance moved will decrease. I am gonna get myself a C's whenever I get a TII.

I had a Mazdatrix in my 90' GXL when I had it I loved it I didn't get any rattle. When I bought my 91' TII the first thing I bought was a Mazdatrix short throw I love them can't stand the stock one it is to sloppy the mazdatrix is nice and crisp. Having a short throw will make you a better shifter now it does take some getting used to after I first got mine I kept going from 2nd to 5th. Tha mazdatrix takes the throw from stock 6" to 3 1/2 " almost half. Now if it starts rattling I would recommend getting a heavier ****.
Just My two cents
