Passed Compression, now what

Alrighty, ive been havin crazy bad overheating problems cus of all fluid being pushed out of system into reseavore, from what i read, that ment bad seals, but my compresion test says seals are good,

Left/Right/Top/Bottem
115/100/120/100 manual sayus a maximum varation of 21psi with miniumum psi of 87 being ok..

as far as i can undersand.. that says my seals are fine..(tell me if im wrong) could my h2o pump be bad? not pumping right, or enough, ive been without this car pretty much sence easter because of every consiveable problem, just lookint to get it on the road

hehe, compression checks check the Apex seals, corner seals and side seals (please correct me if im wrong, im not the best person to talk about with the internal of these crazy triangle engines ) . What would cause your car to over heat and spit coolant everywhere would be the coolant seals (coolant o-rings), These seals are not tested by a compression test. Coolant o rings being bad, means a rebuild in most cases. I have heard of people that go to the local auto parts store and get this block sealant/coolant system sealant **** in a bottle thats supposed to seal even cracked heads on piston engines, when my coolant seal went i tried it and it helped a good bit, as a matter of fact, im still using it. But the cause will not be cured for sure with out a reabuild, sorry. I hope this helps and if im wrong someone please correct me.

yeah roy is right on that one,

your water pump wouldnt push fluid into your reservior. also you should check your radiator cap.

you need to have the cooling system pressure tested, or bolck checked (this is where they check for exhaust gas in the coolant). this is the reason compression tests aren't the best indicator of the engines health. it only tests one thing, you dont get an overall picture

So if im purchasing a car I should check coolant seals as well then right? How do you check the cooling systems?

Yeah.. If exhaust gasses are pushing the coolant out, you should be able to take the filler cap off (WHILE COLD!), start the engine, and look at it.. If you see bubbles coming up, that's most likely exhaust gas passing by the coolant o-rings... take a whiff of it to make sure...

If it is indeed the o-ring, the bubbles should come up whether the engine is warm or cold.

I have an FD, but I had 8.+ all the way around and a week later my coolant seals just went.
Pressurize the cooling system and see what happens, more likely than not, some of the coolant will end up in the combustion chamber - time to get a rebuild.
