Painless wiring assembly
Has anyone ever rewired they whole rex with one of these kits? As I just bought one here today because I have been messing around with the wiring on my car for about 17 hours of honest pissing around with it. All that was working was my high/low beams, warning lights above the radio (like the said hatch open and what not), and thats it. Nothing else was working. No brake lights, no turn front and back signals, no instrument cluster. I am putting a carbed v8 into it and well the engine and tranny are ready to go just I can't figure out this problem. So really all I need to have working are the things I mentioned to pass safety inspection. but has anyone ever tackled this and how much fun was it.

I didn't do a rex but I did a 1959 Austin Healey Sprite with one of the painless kits. This was no simple car though. Its fuel injected, electronic Ig., heated seats and other cool stuff. The painless wiring was, well, painless. Everything is marked the whole length of the wire. Easiest wiring job I've ever done. Worth the money for sure.

Unreal, no my old main fuse box inside my car on the driver side there should I leave like a few inches on all of them boxes down there just incase for whatever reason? I know it sounds like it should be a yes answer, but I mean measure twice cut once.

You threw a V8 into the FC, and you're asking us for help?
Seriously, has the car been in an accident?
Just because you're running a non-stock engine, you shouldn't have touched any of the chassis electricals.
The chassis electricals does not interface with the engine electricals.
So either you have a defective chassis, or you touched something you wasn't supposed to.

We've touched on this before. A search for "painless wiring" will probably turn it up.
The only real issue is that the electrical system of the FC is rather unique. There's a lot of "80's legacy" stuff like the logicon, air mix motors, integrated headlight switches, etc. etc. No universal harness is going to easily fit.

The car wasn't in an accident, atleast it didn't show up on the VIN # check nor was there any damage to the body or chassis for that matter. It was clean, but buddy who had it before had a chevy 2.8L engine in it and did ALOT of moding to the wiring harnesses and what not, so I figured to save my a huge headache of tryin to find out where the problem is just rip almost everything out, well everything that I dont need and this 12 circuit will replace and re do it. I would have to make my own wiring harness for the windows and the sunroof other then that everything is included in this kit.

Bells and whistles like headlights, taillights, indicators, ventilation, warning lights...
The FC is not a hot rod or old classic. If you try to replace the entire wiring system with an aftermarket loom it will be anything but "painless" if you want these basic items to work at all. If the original harness is so bad it can't be repaired (and I doubt it is) then you'd be much better off with a replacement stock harness.
