Overpriced?

I don't know the prices for parts but my vehicle is in the shop at the moment and the mechanic has told me that the parts to order for my rear end would cost roughly around $600.00 not including labor...What I'm asking here is if it's a good price and that i'm not getting ripped off.

I believe I need a new control arm, hub, half shaft etc.

from what I am seeing in that picture that price seems a little low, but not too far off.

Oh really? Thanks Icemark! My friends told me it would only cost around 300.00...shows what they know. Cars sure are expensive, going to need to fork out big bucks for a new rim and a set of tires.

by the look of it he slide the rear end sideways into a curb or off road and then bounced it a couple of times

Find someone who is parting out a car. Chances are if you pull the parts yourself you can find them for a under 100 dollars.

$600 is cheap, unless we're talking used parts?
I'd put money the ENTIRE rear subframe is bent.
Impact to cause that kinda damage would also kill that side shock.
I would also inspect the diff, as that side half axle could easily impact the diff and cause internal damage.

I would throw the car away.
It's cheaper (and safer) just to buy another good, used one for the price and peace of mind.

Yeah, depressing that you only had the car for what, 3 days? But Ted's right. Other than swapping the full rear subframe (diff and all is what I'd do), I'd just find something else.

Here are some pictures I'd like to share.

Now I can say I blocked a lane for approximately one hour.
