Reliable and Robust Coilovers for street/track

Hey there,

i have seen countless types and brands of coilovers for the FC, but still dont know which are really reliable and robust.
It's very important to me, since im going to use my car 70% on the street with almost good roads over here in germany, but the other 30% on the track, especially the Nurburgring Nordschleife.. so the MUST take a BUNCH of abuse, since that track is very bumpy. They must handle the harsh conditions and the curbs..

we have a nice manufacturer over here named KW. My friend got some made for his S4. He has got over 30laps on them and they are still fine.. but.. with almost 2700$ they are way overpriced for my budget and they are W/O pillowball mounts

He has got some Cusco camper plates, and the center spherical bearing failed after 1 Lap

so what do you recomend?

thanks for all replys!

Well in not too sure how the market and availability is over in Germany but i would highly reccomend tien coilovers. the are built very sturdy and have many applications for street, track, or both. Over here in the states they are reasonable average i would say is 1500 and they can also be serviced here in the states as well which is cool because shipping to Japan from the states can take a few months. I hoped this helped.

I have been Co-Driving a Subaru STI in SOLO II for the past 3 years and we are running on TEIN coilovers and we have had no problems. It is his Daily driver as well. We have abused the hell out of the car and have had no problems. We usually attend 4-5 Divisinals a year + Nationals as well as Local AutoX. So that is 6 2-day events with two drivers + driving there and back. Car has ~40K miles and about 30K miles on the Teins.

my personal favorite for coil-overs are from silkroad, the RM8s. amazingly reliable and great on both the street and the track.

my second favorite are the JIC FLTa2RS. hte difference from the flta2, and the flta2rs is the fact that you have the option to pick the spring loads. although i dont know the best spring combinations on FDs, i do know that having 8kg all around on my fc is amazing

I would also reccomend Teins. The Flex or the Super Drift (pretty sure they're just about the same), depending on spring rates you want, or you can always change them out. I've seen a few dyno graphs of the Flex and they seem quite good. I've also driven and ridden in a Flex equipped Miata and they feel nice too. There's guys with over 30k miles on them with no problems.

Might want to check what brands are rebuildable locally in Germany and consider adding that to your decision if that is important to you.
