-Dual Mufflers that Actually Sound Good-
No, I haven't found any, I'm asking all of you if you have.
I see no reason to pay $500+ for an Apex'i muffler if there is something cheap out there that still sounds good.
Naturally, I'm looking for a straight through, N1 design.
Apex'i = WAAAYY overpriced
Racing Beat = too expensive
Greddy = too expensive
HKS = overpriced/too expensive
tanabe hyperspec = overpriced
The
list
goes
on.

In my opinion the sweetest sounding exhaust is the RB Turboback, yes its expensisve but I think that for performance/sound its completely worth it.

HKS is worth it. I know you don't want to pay $550 for a catback, but it sounds excellent, and will keep almost anything reasonably quiet. I installed the RB header/presilencer and it's quiet at 3k RPM on the freeway, but under WOT it trips car alarms. It's very nice quality of sound - it doesn't sound all tinny and ricey like a lot of the N1 style exhausts I've seen/heard.

I was going to use a RB 3" dp, and presilencer, and then get a custom catback made using a pair of magnaflow mufflers. I would just use the full RB, but it seems like EVERYONE uses the full RB, and I want to be different(hey, I drive an rx7, whatdaya expect?)
The RB seems a little weak, and I don't want a LOUD car, but I'd like to be able to hear those rotors sing!

dont go cheap N1's shitty sound, shitty quality. Thats just my opinion, i used to have them. I switched to Greddy EVO replicas.. Burned the insulation in those within 2 weeks. With RX7's, unless u dont give a crap what your car sounds like, you should go with an "expensive" well made catback, or u will be hearing stupid loudness and such. >_<
My greddy replicas are quieter than my N1's but my girlfriends S13 has a Blitz NUR spec catback and it sounds 1000x cooler than my car.. her having a reciprocating engine might have something to do with that though...

How about HP Racing? I think they have some evo replicas for under $200.
I really don't have the money to spend more than $400 in all on mufflers.

I have a Pacesetter header (free), 2.5in pipe, and (one) magnaflow straight through muffler on the back. Flows great, sounds scary, and loud as HELL. I mean so loud your ears will bleed.

I used to have a 5 zigen single exhaust, I like the sound but it is really loud , I got so many "loud exhaust" tickets in the past 6 years. so I bought a used racing beat mufflers from a local forum last month, and weld it to my 5 zigen mid pipe , it is a quiet exhaust and I love the sound , and I feel the low end is better than before.
(I have 3.15" dp,mid pipe + and 2.15" turbo back)

Dynomax.
I bought my Dynomax catback 8 years ago, and it is still going strong. It came with the two cans, and a Y-pipe. The sound is fantastic, and it was quite inexpensive. The look isn't very flashy, but then neither is the price!
It has a deep sound, that is not too loud. I'd reccomend it!
