Go to AutoZone or any other car parts store and purchase a Haynes manual for the car. I think it is about $20. It has a pretty good troubleshooting guide and most of the 'how to' information you are getting here, but in detail, without bad information, and with pictures.
Once you have gone through the troubleshooting, you will be better armed to ask and get good answers from here.
