One rotor.. then Two?
I've got a weird problem, we just dropped a 10k reman into my car, we've been sorting through all the problems, but i noticed when i first try to start the car up in the morning it'll fire right up to about 1,000 rpm stay there for a few seconds then just die. Thing is when i give the car more gas, the car sounds like its on one rotor, then you can kinda hear the exhaust note change and then theres suddenly more power and the car mysteriously idles..? I don't know what could be causing this i certainly hope its not the engine, I trust the seller of the engine (Ray Crow) anybody got any idea?

Should be, but the motor was heavily inspected by my fried before installation and he said all seals were intact and everything looked to be in order the housings were fine and everything. I seriously doubt it's that..

i know for a fact the TPS is not in the best working order, but could that cause problems like this? Timing is set, was done yesterday at rotary shop, also when we started her up it was smoking so bad but it wasn't the smell of coolant, or oil really because i talked to my friend who works at the shop he said it smells like when a car is running too rich, and it did that again this morning when it was running, it was smoking alot and smelled the same as it did at the rotary shop.

timing affects idle, idle affects TPS calibration. yes the TPS can cause it to sound like it is running on one rotor at times but that is just a starting point, it could be one of the other sensors, you can check resistances at the ECU but this is the easiest starting point.

You're giving me hope Karack, i really don't hope this motor is toast, because the seals looked great along with the housings inside, and i don't know why the coolant seals would be going bad at this state.. so i hope its not that.
