OK an introduction..
Im Jozy.. YES like josie and the ***** cats.. josey wales.. etc..
I guess my parents were hippies.. you dont wanna know what my middle name is..
Im from a small *** town..
all i know how to do is fix ****..
im country as f***..
although i don't listen to country..
im sure id sound like a real f***** hick to most of you..
i cuss alot although i don't mean to..
but really im a very open minded down to earth dude..
i work at a shop.. and im master certified.. doesnt mean much im aware
mostly i work on Vw/Audi.. Toyota/Lexus
but i like to venture into different worlds..
and what id like to gain from this website/forum is a very very good understanding of the earliest of the early fuel injected rx7.. or atleast meet people that like to discuss the topic..
So, recently bought my newest (not by year) rx7..
Its a 85 GSL-SE..
I guess it used to be ocean blue metallic before the clear started to peel..
Found it sitting at a mom and pop car lot abandoned for the last 10 years or so..
History seems to be a doctor owned it..
bought it new..
Then stored it in a climate controlled storage unit after about 90k..
then ten years ago brought it to this place for repairs/freshening up the story goes..
fast forward to now..
car has sat in the sun and baked..
although.. not much is cracked or rotted.. except a few hoses and the tires..
seems like a nice story.. but who knows..
the interior is immaculate..
almost nothing has been touched on the interior of the car..
except for what ive touched myself..
under the hood is a different story..
the maf plastic has been cut open and im guessing moved because its marked in several spots..
the 10mm bolt for the distributor has made several tightening marks..
none of the adjustment caps are intact on any of the seems like million screws..
R/L adjuster is very marked up..
it looks like someone has been feverishly adjusting every screw possible on this thing..
sounds like it runs on one rotor.. the thuhh thuhh thuhh thuhh
at 800 rpm
instead of the normal rotary purrrrrrrrrr...
anyway.. ive had a few fc's.. ive never had a distributor model.. or any FB
This car has really grown on me..
and im really trying my damnedest not to just give up and v8 swap this thing..
since that was what i ended up doing with my flooding nightmare FC cars..
Im very open minded.. i love cars.. i work on cars for a living..
ive exhausted my sources on anyone who can even give me advice on this engine..
so screw it.. ill join up and see if i can make a few friends and share advice about this seemingly never ending battle with this engine...
i know where the search button is.. trust me.. so i dont mind you telling me to use it..
any of ya out there still play with this stuff on a daily basis?
because ive been goin on two months now of good days and bad days with this thing..
i guess i need to learn to always have a spare daily driver while owning a rx7..
