Why would you make a new thread for this, instead of PMing him or posting on that thread?

Fail.

PM'ing him is probably the best way to get information from him.

I've done it and determined it falls under the title "Something interesting to do"..............but not worth it in my opinion. Just stick with the stock omp. It works just fine. Screw mixing two stroke oil in the gas.

Part of the *Problem* is creating a tank for the oil your going to feed the pump with. A reservoir of enough volume where you don't have to constantly fill it up. In my opinion you'd need a tank of at least a gallon. That's not going to fit in the engine bay at all. I used a reservoir made out of a used propane bottle at one time. At another time I just used a quart can of two stroke located next to the right head light area. Just inserted a tube in the top of that one and let the OMP suck the oil out.

Like I said, for me it falls under *something more or less interesting to do* and not much more. I did learn that the OMP when cut off from the oil feed in the front cover, can pull oil out of a bottle of oil sitting on the ground under the car. Sort of learning that, that little omp is a pump in itself and needs no help from the engine oil pump to do its job. Learned some other "stuff" messing around with it. But falls under *Hobby*.

Sorry, i rarely check the forum anymore. I am still using this on my 20B, never had any problems. Ive done several teardowns on various engines that used it and all of them looked nice inside. I plan on continuing to use it for all my rotaries.

As far as a tank, it just takes a little creativity to find something suitable. I personally made an aluminum one, but I realize that not everyone can just weld one up. Mine holds a little more than half a gallon, and I am happy with that size. I do have a level sensor on it, and I carry a spare quart around in the car just in case, but I only have to fill it once every 3 or 4 tanks of gas, so that works for me.

There's other concepts on how to put two stroke oil in the fuel other than pour it in the filler. Such as a gallon tank in the spare tire well with a pump on its bottom, like a 11buck washer pump. Then a line from the pump to the Vent line of the fuel tank. Throw in a simple switch accessed near the driver. Calculate how long the pump takes to pump a given amount of fuel. The go to the gas station and turn the switch ON for that given amount and then fill the gas tank up..

Then again, the stock omp is pretty good.

That's a neat idea. But what if the pump fails and you don't know it or temperture changes alter the flow rate?

Even I can hear the pump. Two stroke is pretty *watery*. And number three.........premixers that pour it in the gas cap over mix anyway.

Stock omp does a fine job as is.

without actually running the numbers again the average mix of the stock OMP is something like 600:1 and people are premixing @ ~100:1 generally.

I agree the stock OMP is more convienent than premixing and frankly I hate premixing and refuse to do it. I just prefer the idea of using 2-stroke as opposed to sump oil. That's why I went the whole rotary aviation adapter route.

At every fill up I try to check the oil and coolant anyway. Usually adding oil everyother fill. Why not just top off the 2-stroke tank every fil and not worry about it. FWIW mine is about a quart. I'm hoping the consistancy of the 2-stroke doesn't cause it to be injeted 4x as fast.
