OMP line replacement

I have read up on replacing my lines and I purchased the hose and claps needed. The post said it took him 20 min to half and hour. Yeah maybe if your motor is torn down and on a stand. I also read where guys can pull thier motor in an hour. Well I can see my OMP and the line that failed, but cant even see where any of them endup. I guess you have to pull your maifolds to do this job? I am about to cry.

Most likely. Its a pretty cheap gasket, though, I think.

I dont mean to be a baby but I honestly cant even see how to take the UIM off. There are so many vaccume and fuel lines and general rats nest I am overwhelmed. I am praying someone can shed a light on an easier way.

Holy colors batman. That almost hurts to look at. Looks like Optimus Prime threw up in your engine bay!

^ LOL
Anyway, look it up in the handy-dandy FSM or haynes manual. Basically, you remove the intake snorkel, then remove the secondary fuel rail, then remove the bolts around where it connects to the LIM. You need to losten the bolts that hold it to the vacuum rack, too. Then just look at whats keeping it from moving and wither remove it or move it out of the way. Take detailed pictures before hand so you know exactly where stuff goes. Its a bit intimidating the first time (especially with all the emissions **** still in place) but easy once you figure it out.

After 2.5 hrs of cursin and bloody nuckels I can at least now see where they go. So pretty much a weekend job ( permitting I can get the gasket).

That is why I removed all the emissions crap on my car. It is so much easier to work on the car that way.
Edit: try replacing the alternator on a geo metro, then we'll talk bloody knuckles.

I like the bay it is a bit busy with the colors but I even get flamed for my bay and I only have 3 colors (4 if you count SHINY)

You really should only need to pull the 5 bolts from the top of the intake, intake elbow, and a few vaccum lines.

Best time I ever made was a swap in 8 hours from a short block.

Ive got a quick question. I am making new omp lines and replacing my spider vac lines(have hose, clamps, spider vac lines) I have everything torn down but for the life of me can not figure out how to remove the oil nozzle or whatever the heck they are called. The four things on the housing that have the spider vac hoses attached to top and what the omp lines connect to with clamps.

Someone said a 19mm wrench...that wasnt right when I tried. I have no clue...anyone care to point me in the right direction??? Thanks so much!

you can use vice grips carefully (not reccomended) or I think it is a 14 mm open end but it must be thin. if you dont have a thin one use a grinder till you do.

OK, took a look at it. Are they all the same size nut? The 14mm wrench fit onto the ones on the LIM but not even close to fitting on the the ones attached to the housing...that sound right?

Wow, did you do all the previous work on that engine?
It looks like someone replaced everything except the OMP lines.
That's a very colorful engine bay.

All that stuff is just a cover that you put over the lines and hoses. You don't have to remove them to do it.

The car was a car for sale on eBay known as the "Ronald McDonald" car....

Any, on topic: The metering oil nozzles I believe are 17MM for S5, 14MM for S4. You need a thin wrench. I have cheap made in China wrench that I just ground down to fit...

Don't use Vice Grips as it is really easy to crush the round section very slightly and seperate the crimp.
