ok im stoked

rotorbrain and i got my engine out this weekend.....FINALLY

we had some hardships while doing it though....

we had the CUT the exhaust cause it would not unbolt, but all in all, its wasnt too bad....

my tranny seems to be leaking pretty bad....im not sure if its really leaking or not...it may just be covered in dirt and tranny fluid already, cause it was sitting for like 6 or 7 months, and there was never really a bad stain below it or anything....but the bottom of the tranny was covered in what appeared to be gear oil.....

anyway....
what types of things should i replace before i put the newer engine in??

- im gonna replace the passenger side motor mount.....
- the vac lines are good (hose techniques)
- replaced alot of the fuel lines already....
- the oil cooler lines came off real easy...no cracks or leaks or anything....which was surprising...
-ordered a new main oil seal...
-ordering new gaskets (upper to engine, lower to upper)
-new battery, plugs, fuel/oil filter, wipers

im sure theres a few things im forgetting.....
is there anything else that should be replaced while the engine is out?

im also thinking about replacing the pressure plate...

well....the cluth was good when the car was downed....
and i cant afford a whole new kit, so i would just have to get the pressure plate or something...but i am looking into it....
im also going to have to buy a downpipe now, since i had to cut the exhaust...but im not complaining about that....downpipes are a good thing

im mainly worried about small ****, like some uncommon hose that goes REAL bad after time....or something like that.....i want all the small stuff to be prestine before it gets started.....

nah, theres not really much else worth worring about, the only thing you'll have to do is make several runs to advanced for hose clamps and dumb **** like that. But hey its all good! hope it works well for you. Also hope you put a little atf in there to loosen things up.

Now would be the time to fix that transmission leak, while it's easy to take out. Degrease the whole thing, then look for where it could be seeping from. Comon places are the front seal (which will kill your clutch) and the rear seal. Also, it could just be dribble from the shifter housing.

Replace the fuel filter, and might as well replace the drivers engine mount as well.

the problem with testing the tranny is that its pretty much drained of all its fluid now....so it will be hard to determine where the leak is coming from....
should i just degress the bitch and fill it back up in hopes of finding it?

As Aaron suggested, I would just go ahead and replace the front and rear trans seal. If there is no fluid in the trans, it must be going somewhere. I would also replace all coolant hoses. If you're not replacing clutch assembly, replace the pilot bearing on the engine your installing.
