my motor is built, installed, and will be running tomorrow

i got my TII S4 motor built at Mazda's n More in Federal Way, WA... it started off as an atkins motor... new housings, stock porting, 2mm 2 piece seals, nothing fancy, the guy who had atkins built it, picked it up from atkins and installed it himself... he didn't install the oil metering properly, and i think some other mistakes... he burned the motor up in 5 minutes roughly... so i bought the core off my mechanic, who actually traded a working GXL for a non working TII to do a 20B install on, i paid 400 bux for this core, he pulled it apart, cleaned it up(it was already almost immaculate), and found the middle side wall and eccentric shaft scored up pretty bad, replaced those, and i opted for him to replace the S4 rotors with 93 rotors, for the light weight and higher compression... i also had him do a street port on it, stage 1, he also ported the exhaust ports, and built it with new 2mm 2 piece seals etc... also had to get a new counterweight for the 93 rotors, since my counterweight i already had for my S4 rotors wouldn't work,or so he said... he said it would work, but the motor could possibly vibrate, so i had him order a new one... all this came to 2900 after tax, labor, and parts... i'm having a guy who actually just quit from the shop install it, he's installing motor, driveshaft, tranny, flywheel, clutch, intake, exhaust, basically EVERYTHING, for 650... he got the motor in yesterday, and started hooking everything up today, he should have it in good running order tomorrow as long as nothing else happens... i'm stoked, i can't wait... right now i have a t3/t4 hybrid turbo, a s5 exhaust manifold, ported S4 upper and lower intake, HKS green hemispherical filter thing, 720cc secondaries, 3" RB DP, 3" straight pipe, S5 transmission, S5 Rear end, and unfortunately stock ECU and radiator... going to be upgrading to a k2rd.com radiator and a haltech e6k asap... so yeah, i'm stoked, like i said before, hopefully i get to drive it home tomorrow and start the break in

AAAAHH! Get rid of the HKS filter. It's possibly the only bad thing that HKS makes, and possibly one of the crappiest things for our cars, period!!
It's restrictive, the foam degrades and falls apart, allowing dirt in, and also flying into the engine itself. It's also, um, flammable! LOL

yes but pretty much the only way for the foam to ignite is to backfire thru the intake, which means it would have to go thru lower intake, upper intake, throttlebody, intercooler, turbo, and mass air flow sensor, and if it were backfiring out the intake i have much bigger problems than a filter to catch on fire... besides, its what came with the car when i got the car, i already planned on changing it

Engine heat+oil residue.... can lead to combustion under the hood. Bottom line is their crap, and good thing your changing it! More power can be had with a KN cone.

i went to pick it up, the thing runs great, sounds quite awesome! idles rough, but what rex doesn't? anyways... i was backing it out and the brake pedal just went to the floor... so we checked it out, and mark thinks the master cylinder needs to be replaced, we tried bleeding the brakes with no luck, it can build up pressure but not hold it... so he will get the master cylinder tomorrow and install it, and hopefully if weather permits i can get it tomorrow

Check for fludi leaks anywhere else too- might not be the master- it sounds more like a leaky line.

he did that as well... he was couldn't get any fluids out of one of the drain things on the master cylinder, only out of the other 2... when we put the fluid in it kept it in fine as well, it didn't leak out at all, he pretty much covered all bases
