Oil spray

Maybe I can get some help over here.
I have a mystery oil leak that is spraying a fine mist onto the firewall on the passenger side.

I have inspected all the turbo feed and return lines, its not coming from there. The BOV is clean, so I figure its not the seals on the turbo. I have no inspection plate on, so I am thinking maybe a rear main seal leak. The engine only has about 4K on it but I guess it is possible.

Can anyone think of anywhere else it could be coming from?

If its not the oil feed or return lines it could be that when you built the engine or whoever did they either didnt replace the rear main seal or they didnt put it on all the way.

How far forward are the oil drips???

I would suspect a bad purge valve. They sometimes crack, and will spray, but I would expect a little on the back side of the motor there as well.

There is some on the back side of the engine as well. I never actually thought of the purge valve.

It is focused in the general region of the wiper motor, rear passenger side of the engine. I thought maybe a rear main, but there is no other evidence of it leaking. And usually a rear main is worse than this problem.

Time to get out the FSM and check the purge valve.

Yeah I have no doubt Kevin did everything correct, but some parts just fail before their time.

OK, so a friend of mine has my digicam so I had to snap a few pics with my phone. I hope you guys can get an idea of where it is coming from. I cleaned in up a little, replaced my Clutch slave and master cylinders, and put in an SS line. After driving her around for a day, here is some new evidence. It looks like its coming from somewhere around the UIM. Again sorry for the quality of the pics. HELP PLEASE!!

Maybe an oil injector or MOP line? But then again, I doubt that the low pressure in that system would produce a spray on the firewall like that.

Don't mind all that grime, the NEW spray is not that much for all the driving I did.

FOUND IT!!!!

The OMP line for the rear iron way severed completely at the clamp.

The purge valve is fine, tested it, after I found the problem (wanted to be sure).

Now the question is, do I rebuild, or replace? Hmmm.

Thanks for the input guys. This could have been VERY BAD!!!

Yeah I know. I started to research it as soon as I found the problem. I'm waiting on Landers to let me know if he has one.

If not I will probably just get one from Mazdatrix, then rebuild all four after Deals Gap.
