Ok I've decided to go with GlowShift Oil Press. and Water Temp. gauges, with an autometer pillar pod. Here are my questions.

1.) where can I get a moderately price Oil Pedestal from? I'l like one w/ two fittings so I can run Oil Temp later.

and

2.) Where's the best place to run the Water Temp sender? I'ver searched on here for the last couple of hours and came up with dead ends. I'd like to have the stock gauges still function. should I tap behind the water pump? or use the Air Pump bolt locations? I'm lost on this part of the gauges.

the best place to in stall a water temp sender is in the water pump housing behind the thermostat

 

The SpeedMachine one looks like the one i'll get. the Ebay one doesn't look like it fits at all lol. i dunno, its a good price though. has anyone used the ebay one before?

so the back of the water pump housing then? right next to the ecu's waterthermo sensor?

 

im about to undergo the same project...
Im going to go with the SMP unit, the ebay one wasnt for the FC anyway.

Where did you get your gauges and what led you to pick them? just curious

ok so where is it, couldnt find it do you have a link? I ended up using the stock sender but would like to use the aftermarket one the came with my gauge.

 

I haven't purchased them yet, i'm going with the Glow Shifts because I think they look the best, and they've been recomended in the past. i couldnt find the link either

your's is the one i'll be going off of (NZConvertable) it looks like you have 2 sensors hooked up, could i drill/tap in the front do I don't have to remove the waterpump?

 

The one on the back of the water pump is the ECU's thermosensor.

I was lazy and tried drilling and tapping the hole for my gauge sender with the pump on the engine. The tap went in at a slight angle because it's difficult to judge it properly. I pulled the pump of and did it properly. I was lucky I didn't damage the hole beyond repair. I'm sure it's possible to do it on the enigne, but I certainly don't recommend it.

 

most guage senders now are 1/8" NPT, the stock sender locations can be tapped to fit it.

imo i prefer the stock location for the coolant level sender since it is where the engine generates the most heat, i just dont see any need for 2 guages anymore but i suppose it beats having a dead gauge and 2 is better than 1 though i have done it both ways but i still prefer the simplicity of the rear iron location and the location of the sender.

 

thats what i was afraid of NZ lol well no sence in doing it the wrong way.
