Lightbulb Oil pressure/temp pedestal

We have just finished another project and I am looking for some feedback. We decided that we didn't like the usual form of piggybacking a block on top of the stock oil pedestal to get oil pressure and temp plugs for our aftermarket gauges. It required that you have longer studs and 2 more o-rings to use it. Besides that is just 2 more o-rings that could fail in the long run. So we made our own design

It uses a solid piece of billet aluminum and is CNC'd to our specs. It has 2 ports on the side of it for 1/8 NPT fittings and uses the stock studs and stock o-rings. It also has a larger trough at the bottom of the filter so that oil doesn't pour out of the pedestal when you remove it to change your filter. Any filter that fits on the stock filter pedestal fits ours just as it would OEM. There are no fitment issues that we have found yet, but we are still testing it in our cars to unsure it will perform as well as it looks

Anyway, feedback welcome good or bad (I have tough nerves )

Pressure send units are prone to leaks and this set-up will certainly make changing temp/pressure units a whole lot easier.

However, leaving the old unit in place of little value and will still be prone to leaks. Maybe consider including threaded plugs to replace old ones?

I was waiting for someone to ask before I got on the RB pedestal

It is the same height overall as the RB block with the stock pedestal combined, so there is no difference in that regards other than ours has only 2 o-rings and 2 stock studs.

Time to upgrade

You still need the stock one to read pressure on the stock gauge. I like having the stock gauge and the aftermarket one together as a backup of sorts. That might be an option later on, but isn't in the mix as of yet.

Price isn't set yet, but we should have that figured out tomorrow. I will post a link to that info as soon as we have it so we don't violate any forum rules with group buys or pricing (both of which we are working on).

No seriously, i'm just joking.......hey you said you had tough nerves. I'm really happy with that design. Several times i've contemplated buying the RB one but was totally dissapointed with the fact that, there were two more O-rings. Your design totally eliminates this. Keep up the good work Dave. When they're ready let me know, because i'll be quick to pick one up.

We have been talking with the people that are making these for us, and they are trying to renig on the price they quoted us and now they are saying the want more than we are even asking for them to everyone else. This obviously doesn't work for us or you guys so we are putting this on hold until we work out a better deal with them, or find another shop that is willing to turn these out without having to get a 2nd mortgage on the house. I apologize for the trouble, but I just wanted to let everyone know where we were with this. I have refunded everyones money until we get the details straight. Thanks.

On a brighter note, the hoods are comming along nicely. Should have some current pics this week for people.

Thanks We are just trying to make things that people like, and this is one of the better ideas we came up with. I hate spilling oil out of the oil filter even if I don't run gauges LOL

Many more products to come.
