oil pressure

I've posted before about my 90 rx7 vert overheating and all, but ive noticed that it over heats depending on what gear im in and on the oil pressure. when my RPM's are low the oil pressure drops and thats when the car starts getting hotter. I then down shift or rev the engine to get the oil pressure up and that lowers the cars temp. I dont know if i need a new thermostat or a new oil pump? im not really sure what it is, but last night i drove the **** out of my car and she was happy and had no problems till i was idleing back at home.
any idea? lemme know.

oil cools as well as lubricates. how much of a temp difference are we talking here? 10-15 degrees? 50 degrees? sounds like the problem is more with your coolant system. check the thermostat, check the system all togehter and consider upgrading to a nicer rad.

Sounds like you may have a failed/failing fan clutch.

its weird though cuz when im warmed up and idling the Oil Presure gauge is under 30, then when i start moving it goes up. now during the idling time if my car is being retarted then it will slowly move the temp gauge up. but if, while in neutral, i rev the RPM's it will raise the O.P. and cause the temp to go down. and when i was racing with my find the other night it didnt over heat at all while it was in the 5-6.5 RPM range and the O.P. gauge was reading 60. and when the O.P is reading 60 the cars temp stays at the norm and wont move till the O.P drops to about 35-40 on the gauge.
its like my car was built for high RPM's and not everyday use....or im just retarted and thats wishful thinking..

The oil pressure raises with engine speed. This is completely normal.

It sounds like your fan clutch is slipping.

so new update!

i took my car to the family mech. and he tld me that there way no way my temp was reading corectly and that the circut could not be grounded all the way (at least thats what i think he said, something like that)
and that my altinator possibly coulnt not be charging all the way.
is there any way to test these things? the fan? the altinator? the pump? (i dont think its the pump anymore) but what are some things i can do to determine what it is?

well you are right about the pump... your oil pressure is acting fine (just like we said) To test the alternator you can take it to an autoparts store, but those are sketchy IMO. If your mechanic was right and the temp guage isn't reading right then get an aftermarket guage. The stock ones are POS's anyway that are notorious for being inaccurate. I don't know about the fan, when I got mine the P.O already converted over to an e-fan.
