Oil Injector Block Bolt. Question...

I have read that you don't want the replacement bolts to thread all the way down into the housing. Does anyone know why? The reason I ask is because I will have to take my bolts to a shop and get them cut to... what like 3/4 inch in length? I got the shortest ones I could find... Just asking before I locktite them bastards in there.... Ps. What is the best oil to use for premixing?

I havent heard anything about bolt length... As far as oil, I just use whatever 2 stroke is available at the gas station..

What I am getting at is. The bolts are long enough that the head of the bolt will not seat against the block... I can torque however (I havn't yet) but it is tightening against the floor of whatever is inside the Oil injector housing. I don't think the bolts are so long that they will hit the manifold but I am wondering if I will be blocking the flow of something important in there.

There's a little brass-colored "orifice" in there, and if you push it hard enough torquing the bolt down, you could conceivably crack the coating inside the housing (or worse yet, make a giant hole there)...

Either cut the bolts down, or use some washers under the heads (I wouldn't do more than three)...

I found mine at Home Depot (Ace Hardware). I want to say they were 18mm long. As previously said dont put pressure in the inner housing wall. If worse comes to worse use the round oil outlet from the oil line as a spacer. Also
(either the LIM or housing) two of the bolts will be shorter than the others.

All right, for all you guys that might even think about going premix in the future, WRITE this number down:

19-064A-FT01

That is the Mazdatrix part # for the bolts that are made to plug those holes, you need 4....Only 2.97 ea.

Did I mention that you might want to WRITE that number down?

how much should the bolts protrude into the intake? too much could create an airflow problem no?

Haha, I just finished mine this weekend too!

And just to set the record straight, the bolts on my 89 TII were the dimension above.
I tried all 3 (10x1.0, 10x1.25, and 10x1.5) just to make sure.

grind about an 1/8 to a 1/16 off of the end and put a washer under themand you will be fine.

Mazda specifically made bolts to plug the oil injector holes? COOL!!

BTW is that the bolts for the t2 or the n/a...cuz they have different thread pitches from my understanding...

If they went all the way into the housing, they would cause turbulance on the intake charge and velocity. (EDIT: besides, its a wt savings issue )

Best oil?

Walmart Supertech (Greyish blue bottle, usually hidden around the premixes on the its-hard-too-see-shelf), $1.07/16 oz. Its TCW3 Ashless and its just as good as any other, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. If you want the best stuff, redline makes some premix... but WTF is the point? Redline = $$$ and isn't that much better.

Pretty damn short- how's that?

And with the old injector nozzle crush washer under the head, even shorter...

This is what I did. You know how the bolt that is in there stock for the oil injection and how it has like the spacer thing with the vac or oil feed nipple coming off of it (whatever it is)? I got a bolt that was the same length as the stock injection bolt was (not including the spacer thing) and then put the spacer back on with the bolt so it was going in the same distance. The spacer with the nipple coming off it didnt need to be capped or anything either because the new bolt was not an injection one like before, so it was blocked from the inside. Worked great for me, found the bolt at LOEWS I believe.

The intake manifold ones were no big deal either, just got some bolts that were about the same length as the stock ones, in those ones there's even a little extra space to be had before it goes into the port. I looked at this recently when my manifolds were out, plenty of space.

If any of that doesn't make sense let me know and I'll try to explain better.
