oil drain question

there is a bolt on the front of the oil pan, will removing it give me a hole straight into my oil pan for my oil drain, or am i going to have to drill into my pan to complete my turbo project. it looks like at one time the bolt might have been loose and leaked a little, the pan is covered in oil around the bolt, but the bolt is nearly clean. the oil and the water are all i have left to finish my turbo.

Are you talking about the drain plug? And drilling the oil pan will require welding, it's too thin to really work via drilling/tapping and running a fitting into it.

Take it to Jiffy Lube!!!!!!!! You're kidding, right? Are you trying to drain your oil? Who is doing to work on your car? YOU? If so, read the archives. Everyone know to drain your oil, you must turn the car over, and let it drain from the filler neck, DUH.

Rookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no, the oil drain from my turbo, its not the bolt underneath to drain the oil from the pan, its literall y the FRONT of the pan, like, the head of the bolt faces the front bumber, so technically, its on the side of the oil pan i guess.

My appologies my good man. I misunderstood your post. Being that I don't know much about the turbo aspect, I'll just let someone more knowledgeable continue.

Holy crap, I just appologized. It must be time for a beer.

What size bolt is it? Usually the pans are all smooth except for the drain on the drivers side...

Yeah you can tap it there if you want. I generally just drill out the area where the TII drain is, and tap that. Wow, that is one DIRTY *** engine bay.

Well, you can do it that way, I'd STRONGLY suggest if you do, that you spray the **** out of the inside and drain the oil afterwards, spray the **** out of it to make sure no shavings are inside.
