Oil catch can problem.

I was wondering about needing an oil catch can. I am doing the emissions removal and have removed the purge valve. So, there is a little nipple coming off the oil filler neck, which I am assuming needs to have an oil catch can attatched to that? Or can that be blocked?

I don't want oil all over the engine bay. Also, where is a good place to buy a relatively cheap ($20-$30) catch can.

thanks!

Don't block it. That allows crankcase vapors to escape. If capped off, you will have high amounts of oil surge into the housings due to pressure spikes of the crankcase vapors and will see a **** load of blue smoke out your tailpipe after a hard redline. If you have TII and are pushing higher then stock boost you will get blow by if the nipple cap isn't routed to a catch can.

Gotcha. Won't block it off.

Good catch can? Or just place a small filter on the nipple?

Small filter works but you will get small amounts of oil leaking from it. It always drove me nuts just because for a split second I thought I was leaking oil.

Ebay catch cans are cheap but they do the job. I got one and it is nothing special. Mazdatrix just started selling some and they are nice. Not too expensive.

Why not just leave the purge valve? That way you don't have to deal with a catch can, and you can also leave the charcoal canister in tact (so your car won't reak like fuel all the time).

I do hate that smell of fuel. I have found my self more then ever recently wishing I kept some of my emission components instead of trashing them. BAC and charcoal canister.

I planned on keeping the charcoal canister. With the emissions rails removed, how would I attach the vacuum stuff for the purge?

Is it just manifold pressure? Thanks!

Follow the vacuum diagram in the Haynes manual. It shows where each nipple of the purge valve needs to be connected and has a diagram of the complete circuit (complete with charcoal canister).
