O2 sensor ground

I have been trying to search for the answer to this question but have had no luck finding it.

Where does the O2 sensor side of the ground wire go. As much as I know is that the inner wire goes from the O2 sensor to the ECU connector. And that the ground wire (woven in between the sensor wire insulation and outer insulation) is soldered to a ground on the ECU connector side.

Is it right that this woven wire shouldn't connect to anything on the O2 sensor side?

that woven ****, is actually there to prevent interference...
so yes the 2nd gen uses a single wire 02 sensor, so that woven wire doesnt go to anything on the sensor side.

Yup, if you do ground it out on the O2 side, then it will be absolutely useless.

FYI, a one-wire O2 sensor grounds through the sensor body and into the exhaust.

Okay thanks, I figured it would just be for interference or something like that, just wanted to get a couple extra opinions on the matter.

The only reason it had me a little bit confuzzled is the soldering into the ECU connector grounds so I thought maybe it was supposed to end up someplace special.

Is this why there is a braided ground strap on the rear left muffler? Seems like it would be a better idea to add one right on the exhaust manifold.

At the ECU end of the wire the shield stops short a few inches from the ECU connector and is connected to one of the ECU's ground wires. You can see this in the ECU wiring schematic where the shield wire is shown as a dotted line next to the signal wire.

Thats what I was saying in my post, well trying to at least, thats what confused me because most of the other ground wires actually end up somewhere they don't just sorta stop. You know what I mean.

I noticed that Braided Strap when I changed My exhaust Out..Just to be safe I added a strap to the Racing Beat Exhaust and Atttched it to the frame of the car.Mazda had it there for a Reason,so I put it on,to be sure Nothing I did hurt the Performance of the car...The O2 has a Shielding to prevent Electronic interference from Givin the ECU a Bad reading from the Sensor...anyhow.I hope that helps a bit.

Look at the ECU wiring diagram and you'll see how nearly all the EFI system's ground wires come together into two wires, and these go to the ring terminal bolted to the top of the engine.
