have you tried to flush the system out to make sure there isnt some serious buildup? FCs have a serious cooling system, i can drive mine above 5k on a 100* day for hours without it overheating. i would get a "new" thermostat instead of one from a parts car that is most likely a poop car with 250k on it that already had a bad thermostat the blew the engine resulting in your parts car

First, Grimm, you need to fix your signature. It is way oversized. The maximum allowed is 6 lines of text or the equivellent size image. Your signature picture is radically bigger than that.

2nd are you using an aftermarket thermostat? You should only be using the Mazda OEM thermostat that was designed for the engine. Not some off the shelf crappy thermostat that "fits" the car. The most common overheating issues are caused by aftermarket non Mazda OEM thermostats like Stants.

3rd, no you can not run without a thermostat. Running with out a thermostat leads to hot spots not properlly coolled and waterpump caviation at higher RPMs (leading to even worse cooling).

Now that you've been constantly overheating your car, your motor is most likely fucked.

chill out, not everyones going to like your car but no need to get angry, just ignore him.

also, a 20b is no joke. most people will tell you its atleast $10,000 (doing it yourself) and it is a lot of complicated work and money. i dont know how good you are with cars or rotary engines, but i suggest staying away from a 20b unless you're loaded and you can pay someone else to do it or you're semi-loaded and you really know what you're doing and can do it yourself.

whatever you decide to do, good luck

If trouble shooting a cooling system is the equivilant of early midddle school.

Installing a 20b is a PHD.

Enjoy your education.

Ok, I would say the FIRST thing you need to do is install an aftermarket water temp gauge. So, you know what you are up against in terms of temp.

Also, like said before do you have the plastic undertray? You should also consider looking at the area before the radiator and make up ducting and put foam in the gaps...so all the air goes to the radiator.

When does it over heat?

Sitting in traffic?

Driving on the highway?

Both?

Is it turbo or na? Do you have AC?
