Is it normal for dirt to accumulate here?

I took the fuel pump access cover off and its covered in dirt. I couldn't see the fuel lines until I cleared away some of the dirt. Is it normal for dirt to collect here like this? Its more like fine powdery sand like from a beach. I'm going to vacuum it out before I pull the pump but I was just wondering if anyone else has come across this.

No, no blowing dust. When I bought it, I noticed that the engine bay had some dirt in it too, but it wasn't this bad. I hosed it out when I had the engine out for rebuild.

yea mine was the same way. i just put my walbro in today and noticed that the cover was filled with dirt. i used a low pressure air gun and got alot of it out of there.

But i didnt have that much dirt in there. I could atleast see the fuel lines.

Mine was like that, too. It's not like that area is sealed off from the outside world.

Don't sweat it. Just clean it up.
