If any of you were at Mazfest the engine I put together for Mariahs ride along/race car for the event made 262 horsepower @ ~7900 to the crank I locked the timing at 24 degrees of advance if I recall correctly. Again this was a heavily ported 4 port (I've built streetable engines that idle at 900 rpm a otay with the same port templates) with 91 NA rotors and a 51mm Berg so it's not exactly what you'd call stock.

If I were to try and do the same on a street car I'd probably build another 4 port engine and strap an SM4 to it.

Nothing, short of radical porting - i.e. bridge or worse - is going to hit 200hp at the wheels.
I disagree wholeheartedly with this statement, we've developed several porting templates that will yield 200whp on 4 ports and 6 ports alike (Though not with 86-88 center irons due to the EGR casting) that are streetable to the boy racers of the rotary community. This is also assuming that you ditch the AFM and have a well developed intake track.
If you're using the stock ECU (which requires a stock AFM), it's not going to happen either.
Couldn't agree with you more, mainly due to the ability to increase timing as torque and VE decrease.
If you're using the stock intake manifolds, it's not going to happen either.
Going to have to half-way disagree with you on this point. Completely stock sure the manifolds are just decent however once port matched and honed they flow quite well. It takes a whole lot of time to do it right, but its again definitely possible.

^post dyno sheets of cars with these templates and their respective mods. I say this only because I feel like I've taken an n/a to the reasonable limit for a street car and I'd like to see what somebody besides Kahren can do.

anyway, just spray the ************. I want to see another nice nitrous build.

extended port and ECU upgrade/chip
That'll easily get 200whp

I'd go with a S5 engine. Bridge port with dual carbs and a header would be a good start. However a good friend of mine gave me the best advice of my life. No matter what you do to a N/A engine (short of a PP), a TII with exhaust and a boost controller will beat you any day of the week. Its alot easier to drop a TII engine in your car than to try and pull 200 rwhp out of a N/A.

Yeah im thinking about ditching the s4 n/a build idea for my fb...i can get a t2 with trans, ecu and maybe the wiring harness....dont know for sure yet though i need to go talk to the guy and check it out. He used to own a performance shop but it closed down and he is trying to get rid of all his extra motors for cheap.

well... just ask kahren. hes super good at making n/a's have power.

a full bridge port will get you where you want, but meh whatever. i think rew plates or re plates would get you where you wanted to go. and a stand alone and a perfect ly designed exhaust.

Thats actually mostly incorrect.

I talked with Kahren about this.. He made 195rwhp (yes.. WITH dynosheets available in his thread) with STOCK injectors and STOCK ECU... He did, however, have a modified TII LIM, S5 UIM/etc... His ports looked great too.

In my conversation with him, he was confident he could reach 200+rwhp had he used an SAFC and slightly larger secondaries since he was leaning out in the high RPMS.

I'll find some of my sheets from the engine dyno. We don't do in-house chassis dynoing.

If you change the rotor, etc. as well I think it's do-able. But like one poster said it's nigh-impossible with s4 internals and a street port.

Ok, I guess I got confused with the ECU. Thats pretty crazy he did that with the stock ECU....

Wonder why you're asking about a n/a motor when you have a potential badass turbo motor sitting in the garage... unless this isn't who i think it is.

I've personally seen the dyno graph that you're all taking about when I went to visit Kahren in CT.

Here's the full story on the 194-195 whp motor:
S5 motor, Kahren Stage 1 Streetport
Kahren Intake Manifold
Haltech
4 x 550 Injectors

Turns out he shut it off because he was running out of fuel; injectors were going past 85%.

It's weird that we're hearing conflicting stories, I should talk to him next time I see him on AIM to straighten things out.

He thinks he can get to 200 easily with is stage 1 port and his intake manifold, 220 with the stage 2 port and his intake manifold. Those are both wheel power numbers.

BTW, My GTUs currently puts out 170 whp on stock ports.

K&N drop-in filter
RB Collected Header
RB Pre-silencer
RB Catback
Stock Injectors
Rtek7 2.0 (modifying my 6PI actuation RPM and VDI actuation RPM, didn't do much for peak power, but made the curve a little meatier)

200's not that much more of a reach.

Which is weird, because I linked to the post where he said "stock ECU" and "stock injectors". 195rwhp was NOT on TII injectors.

My NA made 150whp on stock ports and all the boltons you can imagine. Apparently the streetport posted above yielded 10 more HP than my stock port NA so 200HP doesn't seem like a reasonable goal with a SP.

If you want 200HP street car then get a turbo.
I have a bad *** turbo car! (Zero has seen it)

I need a non turbo rx7 that I can drive around and use for a winter beater. I want to make it "Quick."

I would post IM logs of our conversation, but I don't know if he cares for putting his screen name online. I'll speak to him and ask him to tell the story one more time. I'm just reading right off my AIM logs.
