Non Turbo 200whp feat
Hello, I'm not new to the rx7 land, but I do have a question.
With a Series 4 non turbo motor I plan on "Street" porting, Racing Beat true dual header with Racing Beat piping/mufflers, turbo 2 injectors, and CAI.
Do you think this will give me 200whp?

how about an s4 motor with a bridgeport, RB header w/ custom exhaust and all the fuel upgrades needed for it to run?
Im planning on doing an s4 n/a swap into my fb and im trying to get as much info on how to make 200+whp n/a on the s4 as much as possible before i pull the s4 out of the 87 im about to purchase.

even though everyone speculates that 200whp is possible on a streetport, i have NEVER seen it done. Honestly the highest dyno I have ever seen on these forums was in the high 180s on Kahren's car, and I think that had a custom intake manifold and a standalone.
and I suspect all you would need is 550 secondarys with a bridgeport as far as fuel upgrades, and maybe a T2 fuel pump. Rtek 2.0 also. And I don't care what anyone says, the difference between stock ECU and a standalone on an n/a is a paltry few hp and not worth the money. I had the Zeal Megasquirt and I literally dynoed the exact same power (even though it was dialed in a little better honestly) on it versus a stock ECU and SAFC.

My last dyno was 160hp to the wheels with S5 Rotors, Street Port, Turbo Rotor Housings, S4 FI and Computer. RB Street Header with Straight pipe through CAT and HKS Cat Back. HKS Intake. 6th Ports wired open.
I am sure I am closer to 170hp now with a straight 2.5" single exhaust but I have not dynoed since the change.
I plan to convert to the RB Road Race header and run duals back to a single muffler. I doubt there is anything I can do to reach 200WHP without rebuilding the motor and adding more fuel.

True...I still have a long time until the s4 motor is going into the fb so I should have everything figured out by then. Im going to rebuild the s4 before even thinking about the swap....what kind of port do you think i should go with guys? Its going to be a weekend/track car ONLY...

Yeah but im rebuilding the s4 motor anyway so why not port it while its down....**** i could spray it also lol....im sure i could push well over 200whp with it ported and on spray.

Thats what i was thinking as well....best place in texas to get porting done? I was thinking probably gotham racing or rotary performance in garland....just asking for suggestions.
I dont want to hassle with shipping..i would rather drive there to drop the parts off then back again to pick them up.

150rwhp tops (you need some more mods).
It is possible to get over 200HP out of the 13B (hell, Mazda racecars made 240HP out of the 10A and 12A) but the key word here is RACECAR, not street car.
My NA made 150whp on stock ports and all the boltons you can imagine. Apparently the streetport posted above yielded 10 more HP than my stock port NA so 200HP doesn't seem like a reasonable goal with a SP.
If you want 200HP street car then get a turbo.

I'm actually trying to get 220 to the flywheel and it is so hard. I have everything for it. Except for the standalone, aluminium flywheel, and the true dual.

I believe one of Karen's motors put down 192-194 at the wheels. It did have a custom manifold and a full standalone, though.
As far as fuel, you will not ever need anything more than the stock NA injectors unless you bridge it or have a custom intake. I had what your asked about plus turbo housings with ported exhaust, and I was still running rich, and that was with the stock ecu and stock 460cc injectors.
To get over about 160-165, you need fuel control. You can get into the 180's with everything s5, a standalone, and a good tune. Anything above that takes an aftermarket intake (ITB's) and some luck.
If you bridge it, it will no longer be a street car. And before anyone says it, just because you can drive it on the street doesn't mean it is a street car. They are loud, suck down gas, and drive poorly at part throttle.

Nothing, short of radical porting - i.e. bridge or worse - is going to hit 200hp at the wheels.
If you're using the stock ECU (which requires a stock AFM), it's not going to happen either.
If you're using the stock intake manifolds, it's not going to happen either.
So basically...
If you're going FI, you need a custom intake manifold (think: ITB's) and a stand-alone EMS to get rid of the stock AFM.
You can go carbs...
Some really good porting, unless you go BP or PP...
When all is said and done, you could've gone 13BT swap for about the same amount of money that would've had more power potential.
Please don't come crying back to us about the lousy mileage.

Really, as long as you keep a street port (and a stock intake) the car is going to be at least as streetable as stock. A properly done street port doesn't hurt driveability at all. Mine made good power all over the power band, had great driveability, and didn't really effect gas mileage much at all. I still got high teens around town and mid-high 20's on the highway, which is just as good as stock. If you add in the standalone, you get more power, even better gas mileage (on an NA) and the driveability improves as well. So with the proper work you can have a good running street car with 175+ RWHP.
If you want more power than that, you should really consider just getting a turbo car. Bridging sounds fun, but its really not at home outside a race track.

I can see someone squeezing 170hp out of an NA but it takes work. I wanted to hit 170 (still do) but I ran out of things to put into it. 150HP feels nice and quick so you don't really need more to enjoy the 7.
