No spark

I've been trying to nail this down for a few years.Usually works fine but with no warning will not start. few days later works like nothing happened. Finally got it isolated to no spark. Are there any parts on the 87s that are more prone to fail, ECU or what would be a distributor. Car has 96000 miles on it.

very unlikely to have no spark if the car is not starting. Much much much more likely that the engine is flooded.

What makes you think there is no spark, and if this is the case are you getting a signal from the ECU to fire the coil???

I know about the flooding issue. I hooked up a Timing light and no go and put a spare plug on the plug wires and no spark. I thought I checked the inputs to the ECU but I had it confused with the CPU on the driver side so I will recheck that.
