on an 87 base. Just installed used engine. Kept the harnesses on the engines. Checked all fuses in and out. checked CAS and coils. Replaced ecu and trailing coil. FSm is useless it doesnt have troubleshooting for the ignition system only for each component. Any experience or ideas appreciated. Please reply to hypntyz@hotmail.com

TIA

I just went through this yesterday. Best I can say is to get out a schematic and test light and start probing. Mine was quite simple (disconnect in the right kick). Make sure you're getting power to the coils and signal from the CAS and ECU. Doing it right is a more precise manner (read: probably save you time and money) than having someone tell you "my second-cousin's, husband's car did this". If you need the schematic I've got 86 and 89 stuff and the 88 is posted at fc3s.com

Thanks for the reply. I got it today though. Turns out it was tha AFM. IT worked on his old motor though. Really wierd, and the first Ive ever had anything similar happen. Whats worse, I went to teh trouble of swapping out the engine harness only for tha tnot to work either.
