No more rear diff

Ive been driving all this week with a broken front diff mount trieing to keep the clunking to a minimum till I could fix it on Sat. with the Mazdatrix comp mount I bought. Short drives to and from work but today I lost all power to the wheels I can put the car in gear with clutch out and rev the engine without moving. So I believe the rear end is shot. What are my options from here? Id like a bolt on replacement but upgrading to a gtu rear or something else is probably the better option. What 2 buy and where?

well do you know for sure that its your diff, or is it the clutch. cause if it was your diff it would be making some horrible sounds when trying to move. do you smell anything. im guessing it has something to do with your clutch but i could be wrong..

you would need T2 axles and a different drive shaft.. or you could re drill your flange on your diff for the n/a drive line.... but thats about it...

I think it's clutch and the rearend is fine. I don't know how you would destroy a rearend from having a broken diff mount. Ujoints in the driveshaft yes....but not rearend.

I haven't met someone which has killed a rearend yet.

I drove a good month 80 miles a day for work with a broken diff mount.

To be sure you can put it in gear and see if the driveshaft moves. Otherwise it's either bad clutch or hydraulics.

I have a T2 tranny too I should just swap the the whole driveline. What would be the advantages besides durability. How different is the gearing? Would I have to change the hubs too?

I had my boy watch the driveshaft while I put the car in 1st and reved a little. Car didnt move but driveshaft spun the whole time so T2 rear end is in my future. Besides durability, is there any other advantages over the NA diff. Do I need T2 hubs also or just axles and driveshaft. I will be using a T2 tranny with an unknown year.

...ummm there's really no need to look at the shaft,if the clutch is working but the rear is not,the speedo will show speed when the car is not moving...if the clutch is not working, the tranny, driveshaft, and speedo,do not move.
