Why port the motor, just drop a t2 motor & trany in, get a FMIC and a microtech. Now you will have some potential and about 2x your HP

S-AFC....

My 89 GTU got really fat on the top end after I put the full racing beat exhaust system on and a K&N filter. It was faster, but for some reason it felt like the top end fell out of it

Got a wideband and datalogged some runs in 2nd and third gear..... My A/F's were down in the 10's by 7K RPM... thats no good for an N/A...

When I put the s-afc on and took some fuel out above 5K, she really came to life. If you do this, have it tuned with a wideband on the dyno.. You'll probably get about 20HP back on the top end.

I also hooked up a summit RPM switch to the six port solenoid and had the 6-ports open at 5K instead of 4.5k like the stock ECU.... got an average of 1.5 thenths at the track after that mod. If you start monkeying with the six ports on an RPM switch, get an old solenoid and hook it to the wiring harness in place of the six-port solenoid to let the ECU think its still there so you don't get any weird ECU errors.

I wouldn't TII you car.. I wish I had kept my GTU AND got a TII.... the GTU was SOOOOOO much more reliable and just as much fun to drive hard. TII's are faster, but, you can't beat the "get in and go" of the N/A's.

yea, im keeping her N/A....im buying another 7 to mess around with forced induction. i ordered some rims last night and im getting her painted in two weeks. i justify these mods cause... my one wheel is cracked deff not something good to be driving around with. im getting her painted cause the body has a few things id like to get taken care of before they get bad..even if you cant notice them now. not exactly go fast mods but i geuss you gotta do "show" mods at some point eh?

For the price to swap to a TII drivetrain, you can find a dang TII for the same price. Why dont people get that?

Sorry but I disagree with you here the N/A are nice cars, but its not a Turbo II. Also who says the Turbo II aint reliable if I squeezed almost 200 K miles, and mine is a daily driven car, running mid 13's. Ive had this motor for 6 years, and I drive the car hard, but I also maintain it like a baby.

Just to let you know you stated in your thread what else can you do for a little more power on your N/A ?
Obviously you got everything as far as mods are concerned, so there isnt anything else that you can do to your car unless your looking to add a Atkins Supercharger, or some spray, because those are the only two ways that your going to get any more power for the moment being. Lets face it in a N/A there is only so much you can do until you have reached a point where your not going to squeeze any more power from it, because even if you do Street Port it, whats next ? Obviously a Supercharger, or spray, or better yet a complete Turbo II swap then ill think youll be satisfied with out a doubt. As far as the reliability of the Turbo II is concerned, "YearsofDecay" just said they werent reliable, so I had to comment on that, and say the contrary thats all, dont take it personal. You started the thread, because you want peoples opinions, and thats what you got.

some 4.3 gears from a gtu should quicken it up a bit. Also have you considered any wieght reduction? When you did the tb mod did you port it? If not i say port the tb and the manifolds, but no matter what deffinetly get an SAFC II i love mine
