new rebuild not starting
The single wire plug that is green/black is for an auxillary fan temp switch. If you don't have a sensor on the back of the water pump housing for it, then forget about it. There should be a water thermo sensor back there on ALL cars but only some have a auxillary water temp sensor back there.
Brake booster feed line.....follow the large line FROM the brake booster to the other end and see if is connected or NOT.
Your CAS. Set the lead timing mark on the pointer. Pull the CAS. Align the marks on the BOTTOM. Now look in the TOP of the CAS. Make a note that once you install the CAS, the top should look just like it did prior to installing the CAS. In other words the moving parts in the top should align with the static parts before and after the install. Make sense? OF course. Common sense.
The smoke might be a natural thing on a rebuild. The assy oil/grease is thrown out of the engine into the exaust manifole and will smoke til the exaust burns it all off.
If the rebuild is good, you should NOT have a bunch of misfiring popping etc. Is it possible you used old grommets at the bottom of the fuel injectors? They can cause air leaks that make the engine run irregular, like a vacuum leak.
