New problem with the 7 Condensation INSIDE THE CAR
So its winter here in Boston i have a convertible 88 (not on the road yet since i have to get an inspection sticker hopefully with the mufflers on I'm golden), the tops a little ripped on the sides and i have condensation Inside my car a little worried
When it rained nothing happened, when it first snowed I was good, well now there's a little build and since its night time its frozen. (yay!!) well trying to figure it out what could have caused it, I found some cotton gloves that were wet from when I used them to clean the snow off the car and threw them inside the car when I was done. Apparently forgot about them cause i fell asleep in the car when i was done clearing the snow (best sleep i ever had work and finals do that to you)
but i would like to ask the thread was it the gloves? and what should i do

condensation usually forms where there is a difference in temperature between the outside and inside of the car, when the car is warmer then the outside ambient air temperature. Think of a cup of iced water and a cup of warm water. The cup of iced water will have condensation on it, while the warm one will not.

well the gloves are out i haven't checked the carpet its night time and too cold to do anything if its not the gloves and lets say the carpets wet what would be the procedure to fix this problem
the leather seats are cold but not wet
and brodie121 I understand how condensation works what want to know is what might be causing my car to be warmer

From my RX7 Vert experience:
Your carpet is probably wet behind the seats. It is getting in through the tears on the side, or from plugged/damaged drains or from leaky seals.
Slide the seats all the way forward, pull up the floor carpet from the back. You will probably find that the carpet pad is wet, there may also be standing water. The good news is that this water seldom runs forward to the front of the cabin. It tends to stay behind the seats. Also, check under the spare tire cover. Water can pool under that cover.
Blot it up then keep the carpet up with a plastic cup or something till the air can circulate to dry the area. Using a small fan will help.
Also, keep the ventilation system set on outside air during cold weather and when the car is parked. This will help minimize window fogging. Running the A/C compressor will also help keep the windows dry.
Good luck.

I know what you mean about working and finals! anyways my first gen's sunroof leaks like mad (currently no drain hoses) and my car gets wet and I have bad problems with condensation. I wear a rain coat with the hood up and sit on a yoga mat when I drive it! haha. Just know that, your not alone, and you definitely don't have it as bad as some. haha, jk. But I'll have my turbo 2 on the road hopefully next week when I finally get some freaking time.
so, if you use a blower (hooked to compressor of course) you can easily flush the drain hoses around the hatch area, one time it was so bad I had to use a coat hanger tho. anyways sometimes if the water doesn't drain from around the hatch/trunk it can find a way through the seal and inside the car if it puddles up. so check that out on your ride.

When it's really cold in winter, you can get condensation on the insides of your windows just from your warm breath. If you drive the car a short distance and the windows don't have a chance to fully dry before you park the car, this condensation will freeze on the insides of the windows. This used to happen to me in Pennsylvania winters all the time when I used to daily drive my 7. I don't think it is necessarily evidence of any plugged body drains, wet carpets, or a leaking convertible top.

Hahaha no there was no condensation what so ever when i woke up from my power nap in the car, and the car isn't on the road yet its sitting there for some strange reason i can't muster up $225 for insurance and registration fees ( in 2 weeks i will actually =/)

Sorry, I must have missed the part about the car not being on the road yet. Then I guess there could be a leak somewhere. I don't think one pair of wet gloves would be quite enough to create that much condensation, but you don't want to leave wet stuff in your car regardless.

your car leaks
I had the same problem when I daily drove my convertible and left it outside uncovered.
Good luck getting the leaks to stop, meantime pull the drain plugs and learn to live with it, consider getting a better winter vehicle.
I have been driving for a longer then alot of you have been alive, and have had over 25 cars, NONE of them got frost INSIDE the window except the RX7 convertible.

I have a 1990 vert, you will always have water in your car the verts are bad for that try to keep it dry you can put damp rid in the back to help with it but top goes down !!! water gets in!!! keep drains open look out for rust/rot . this is my 2nd rx7 vert and they get more water then all my other verts good looking car bad design .
p.s I live in dartmouth MA I am going to try to set up a meet this spring / summer my vert is going to paint in the next 2 weeks and then I will try to set it up if you think you would like to go look for post in the next few weeks

Been awhile since we had one of those old fart thread meetings. What happened to TitaniumTT? He usually attends as well. Maybe clokker can stand in for him.

There lies the culprit right behind the passenger seat, driver side is clean
