The color is called dark shadow grey clearcoat, it is a factory ford color. My mom picked it up today so i wolnt be home to put it all back together till probly easter. But it can sit in my garage till then. i havent even seen it in person yet. Ok ok here is the link you probly have to register.

That is not a bad paint job at all considering it came from maaco came out nice
Now wet sand the car with some 1500 grit (watch out for sharp edges or ull burn thru)
buff it out with some white 3M finish it compound
and finish it out with some 3M black elbony compound:P

How much did you end up paying for the job and did you do any kind of prep work before you took it in. Im in really bad need of a paint job and I cant afford anything expensive thats why I ask.

I did all the prep. I stripped all teh old paint, sprayed on some rust inhibiter, bondo'd up what need bondo. Sanded again, then sprayed it in primer, 4 coats. O ya i took as much off as i could before i started too like tails, door panels, ftp lens, corner lights, side markers, u kno all that stuff. I took it to maaco in primer all they had to do was sand tape and spray. It came out to be $410. I got there best quality paint w/ clear and warranty. I got a quote last fall for them to do teh same paint job and have them do all teh body/ prep work and it was $950. So i saved myself about $500.
Cant wait for the new tires so i can get the new 17's on.
IT'll be lookin good. Gettin ready for the revalution In May.

Hey, Al. Where's that getting done, and how much is it running you?
How's the car been driving now that its running again?
You'll have to come buy the lower mainland sometime, we can show each other our projects.

I'm just curious, when gettting it painted, do you bother painting the area around the inside of the door and the small area under the hatch?

I had the door jambs done as well as under the hatch and under the hood aswell. Just the fender lines and up front under teh hood tho. Maaco charges $25 per opening so all the openings cost me $100 more. U can prob get by w/ out all these if you arnt changing color. Otherwise it wolnt look quite rite.

Maaco == Teh Suck.

The paint jobs last about a year or if your lucky 2.

They will usually start cracking and peeling.

It sounded like you did the prep work so it might last a bit longer. The Maaco guys are usually idiots.

They don't care about what they do. My friend had a Cadillac painted and there was bubbles and dirt in the paint. I think there was a lot of orange peel as well.

My friend has been paiting for about 2 months and I bet he could be the master painter there.
His father has been a painter for over 30 years and said he will never touch a car which has been done by Maaco.

Just some food for thought.

ya i kno i heard the stories that maaco is horrible and their jobs dont last. But i didnt have much of an option, i didnt ahve the money for a pricy paint job, and i did get their job w/ a warranty if that counts for nethin. We will just have to wait and see if it lasts i guess.

I got a $350 Maaco paintjob, and so far its lasting fine. Around here its basically Maaco, or over $1000 for a body shop to do it. It comes with a 4 yr. warranty, so basically 8 yrs for $700 or $1000 for long *** time. I'd rather pay the $350 at seperate intervals then $1000 all at once. Its not half bad, and the only thing wrong with mine is the fact that some paint got onto my stock intercooler, but thats no biggie, the rest of it looks great.

i have also heard that the quality of differnt maaco shops varies. ie. some are better than others. I have heard nothing but good things about my local maaco, besides the owner is a nice guy and i was treated well, and that means somthin to me.
