New intake, exhaust, need ECU?

Ok on a stock '86 GXL I want to put a Bonez intake kit and a Apex'i N1 Dual cat-back along with a midpipe and remove the smog pump. I did some searching and it appears the stock ECU is crap, is this true? Can I not do these simple things unless I get a new ECU?

I think you misread or read some tripe. Car should run better and the ECU is not c--p.

Ok, what upgrades generally come after intake and exhaust on a RX-7? All I know is DSM (my baby for a year, then she died) For her I'd be getting a MBC, but obviously, the '86 GXL doesn't have a turbo, so what do I do?

A dual exaust from front to rear is the first and most impressive gain you can make on a rotary. Let me rephrase that. The improved exaust is the biggest gain you can make without taking the engine apart and porting it. Theres a number of folks who believe in a single exaust.

What you are really in need of is a Racing Beat catalog and or a MAZDATRIX catalog. Its more than a list of parts. There is performance advice galore in each catalog. Its MAZDATRIX.COM and RACINGBEAT.COM, I believe. The performance part of the catalog has to be bought at these sites. If you visit these sites you can get a hint of what you might need.

So I should get the Road Race Header 84-92 RX-7 13B 6-Port, but then where can I buy an exhaust for that? Wouldn't I need two midpipes then, and two full cat-back exhaust systems?

If your concerned with emissions, then the road race header isnt for you. Of you have no emissions, then youll need a shop to fabricate the piping from the header, to the mufflers of your choice. Or you could buy the MazdaTrix system.

I looked at the Mazdatrix one, it's expensive, and sounds like hell. Plus I don't know what the ID of all the pipe is. I'm thinking about constructing a 2.5" ID all the way from the headers to the mufflers. Can someone show me a list of measurements for pipe lenghts and exactly what needs to be how long?

Also, what mods would I consider next after intake and exhaust? I want to use it as a daily driver and yet also drag race and street race. Eventually I want to add a turbocharger, so I don't know what to do before that. Any help?

I planned on headers as part of the exhaust (after I posted) and decide to not get the APEX'i cat-back because I want true-duals. So after that I should get bigger injectors and an S-AFC? What about a 75 shot of nitrous?

Also, what width is good for exhaust, I've heard 2.0" OD makes the best HP, is this correct? I also need to know the least restrictive mufflers, I was thinking about doing 2.5" or even 3.0" but if it doesn't provide enough backpressure then to hell with it. What is everyone's experience here?

Disregard that last comment about true-duals. I wasn't thinking clearly, I forgot that with a single turbo true-duals are impossible. But after intake, exhaust, and weight...I should do bigger injectors and an S-AFC, right? What about after that? My Zex nitrous system probably, and after that? (I like having everything planned out).
