new engine wont start
new engine wont start
I ordered an engine from DiamondJapanese.ca last week. I just got finished putting it in, everything went in fine, everythng is hooked up to my knowledge, i check spark. But the engine wont start. Any common things that get skipped over or forgotten to do???? Just wanna know what my possibilities are. thanks!

Compression tested? Alot of those engines end up being blown... Otherwise, how much have you cranked it, it could be flooded. Is it a JDM motor? the fuel lines are switched on those, make sure you have them hooked up right.
first things first
compression test
then get some automatic transmission fluid (one with a dispensing tube).
remove the plugs.
put auto trans fluid (about 50mls in each spark plug hole)
manualy roll the engine over with a ratched with socket on end of ecentric shaft.
then turn engine over on the starter to clear left over fluid.
then put new plugs in.
then try to start it..
if it doesnt start then it could be a fuel pressure issue.
the ATF trick has never let me down

Method 1: Pull EGI (30A) fuse, crank at WOT for 10-15 seconds. Repeat this procedure 3-4 times. Put the EGI fuse back in and try to start it. If that didn't work, move on to method 2.
Method 2: Pull all 4 spark plugs and EGI fuse, crank for 10-15 seconds. You might be able to see the fuel misting out of the spark plug holes. Before putting the EGI fuse back in, you may want to pour a small amount of ATF or motor oil into the bottom plug holes to help build compression.

yea the fuel lines were backwards. Now the engine at least pops but not very often. compression came out to be 102, and 100. So i think its something i messed up, any other common ideas?

Do you have old gas in the tank? It will be very hard to start with old flat gas.
Mine popped and puffed and popped away. It started up when I changed out the gas.

alrighty i did the ATF in each plug hole, turned it over manually, then put the plugs back in and cranked it. No change, i think my problem is something with the ignition because it pops but it sounds like only one rotor is firing, but im not sure why. I did see that i forgot to plug in one thing, but for the life of me cant figure out where it goes, It's a white two prong male adaptor and it's the last one on the harness. It's on the harness that attatches to the TPS and the rear primary fuel injector.
