New CPU...

I'm in the process of debuging some electrical problems in my 87. The interior lights, and clock don't work. Once when I was backing out of the driveway I caught the clock on in the corner of my eye. I will try the "clock" fix next. I'm not sure where the dome light wiring runs from the switch. I have no power at the switch. The fuses have all been checked. The open door buzzer works fine.

I removed the "CPU" and saw scratched in the back "8/95 Replaced KG". All solder pads look clean..but I reheated for the hell of it.

Are the "CPU" 's still being manufactured or was this a used one that was replaced in 95. All circuit board were very clean.

Later..

You can always get an Athlon XP+....

Just reheating wont cut it....you need to remove old solderings, clean area and resolder....

....I still need to perform the wiper-switch fix on my TII

Just make sure you use a low-wattage gun (<15W), and a small enough pump, otherwise you'll end up picking up the lines themselves from the circuit

The problem is not with the solderings, but with what has crawled between the soldering and the wires/lines. That's why you need to take old solder off, clean, and re-solder...

PS: The only thing that doesnt work is my wiper-switch, and I havent found the time to fix even that

You missed a fuse, your room fuse in the drivers kick panel is bad. The circuit doesn't go through the CPU to activate the dome lights.

The clock uses the same fuse.

If the fuse checks out, (by actually testing it with digital multi-meter to see if there is 12V+ on both sides of the fuse while it is in the fuse box) then you have a broken wire or bad plug on the fuse box.

again the CPU has nothing to do with the dome lights or clock working

The dome light switches do not have a hot wire as such running to them. They are a grounding type switch. What this means is the voltage goes to the dome light, and from there the voltage goes to the door switch where it is grounded when the door is open and that completes the circuit.

Check the dome light itself to make sure it is not burned out. Perform this check with a continuity checker or VOM. Do not rely on your eyes to look at the filament to see if it is good.

If the dome light is good check there for voltage. If you have it there then you probably need to remove the door switches and clean them. When you remove the switches from the door the places and method to clean them will be obvious.

When I got my 7 the interior light didn't work. If you took the cover off and pushed on the bulb it would come on. Upon disassembly I found that the tiny rivet that held one of the bulb holders and the wire to the base was broken. I stripped the insulation off some speaker wire and literally "tied" it all back to together with the copper strands. I then "glued" it solid with a bit of solder! It was a solid as the other bulb holder and worked perfectly.

No, actually its because working for Oracle has its pros and cons.....and one major con is that you only get the weekend free (even if...), and then I have to make, buy, get, go, do whatever it is I cannt during the week...
