How much more power? As much as not having power steering? Will it give me as much of a better 1/4 mile time as not having the weight of the a/c?

I'll keep my a/c and p/s. I've run 12.2-12.3 with both of those.

Regardless of the performance increase, the 2nd generation RX-7 came from the factory with dual mufflers. The cutouts for BOTH mufflers are there, from the factory! I'll fill them both with mufflers.

Each to his/her own. Therefore, I'll keep mine basically stock looking. I'll put my time and money into perfromance mods while I keep my "creature comforts".

Weight reduction, on the street, is for people that can't afford performance mods.

i want a center exit exhaust...... it would be ridiculous to do it on a street car the way i want to do it... kinda like the Zonda car coming out the area where the license plate...

yeah i am smoking a little crack right now.

oh and the single makes more power because of the collector.... not because it is lighter, that is a bonus

BTW, there is at least one family of cars that can go around a corner at least as quick as any un-weight-reducted 2nd gen and they weigh 3100-3400 lb.

So...,

Don't give me the "weight reduction = cornering" argument. It again comes down to the money that you can spend to do the acceleration and cornering while keeping the a/c, p/s and sound deadening.

Kids! I guess I gotta love 'em 'cuz, I've already been in jail for killin' 'em

I put mine on. It flows more than I need, sure. But it is loud. Wussies need not apply. Or at least those that want to avoid attention from cops that rather waste time writing up traffic tickets for victimless offenses than actually solving crimes against humanity.
The tip is 4" with a small canister (doesn't look like it'll drag on the ground) exiting on the driver side at a small angle. A 4" tip isn't bad considering it has a main pipe with 3" inside diameter. It shore does have mighty purty mouth on it.
MikeL: you're right. If weight governed cornering ability, then what about the new M5's, new Lambo's, new Porshe turbos, etc. They seem to handle their weight well around corners. I've gutted some stuff out of my car mostly out of boredom. A weekend with no new parts to put on means old parts will probably come off. Justification for it comes later. Having more room under the hood to work is nice. Such as the A/C. It was broken and is totally useless here in Seattle (except for one or two weeks a year). Now I can change plugs out in no time and still maintain all the skin on my knuckles.

are you saying that weight doesnt affect cornering???? sure it isnt the only thing but it sure as hell is a big one. thatis why the 60 hp gokarts can go around auto-x turns at high speeds......no weight.

some of us want all we can get from our little sports cars and just because we want to take off our ps, ac, and airpumps doesnt mean that those mods are only done by poor college kids. it fine if you want to make your car visually balanced in the rear so the honduh boys can admire. but dont tellme that i am doing the stuff i do because i dont have the $$ for "real" mods

Sorry for offending. Sometimes I forget that these typed words don't allow me to express tone and inflection.

I'll start over:

If CorkSport would make that exhaust in a dual version, I'd buy it when my GReddy wears out.

If I could drop 2000#, lower my center of gravity and keep my tires, of course it would corner better. But 5# here and 10# there won't make or break the handling. I was just pointing out that there are boats out there that can out handle most other cars out their in spite of themselves.
One thing about having less stuff under the hood is less stuff to breakdown and cause other issues. Less mass under the hood means that there will be less heat retention. More room to work as well. Heck, there's plenty of reasons to yank stuff out. For everything I've pulled I have a perfectly sound explanation for doing so. At least it makes sense to me. If everybody did the same thing with their 7, this forum would get real old real fast.

i think that this system is the best system for the money but it is loud. Quality is top noch, stainless steel, three inches, stock mounts. A real nice system, but it is loud. I run it with a header and a straight pipe.

theres no way you're getting 5-10 more hp from simply having a single straight through catback than a dual...if anything it will change the powerband slightly
